Figured this was a good enough article to start a new thread since all the other threads on him are locked.

UCONN: “UConn was a great visit. My old teammates, Jayden and Jacob Ross go there, so it was fun hanging with them. And then I liked how it was pretty much as a basketball school and how much they value basketball.
Coach (Dan) Hurley likes the fact that I play defense, I’m a two-way player. So players like Stephon Castle and Triston Newton and they lock up on defense. So that was pretty much a big part.”

No. 1-ranked PG Dylan Mingo breaks down visits; dives into upcoming officials & commitment timeline

I think many on here may be right. UConn may have moved off Mingo since he's dragging out the process. 2 weeks ago the same people wrote that they were hearing UConn was one of the 3 schools most in with Mingo. Now not so much. He has the right to do whatever he feels is best so I'm not putting him down, but I don't think UConn wanted to wait this one out. I remember someone a few months ago posted something from one of the national recruiting analysts that his recruitment would be a "circus".

5-star PF Dylan Mingo

Dylan Mingo has taken official visits to see Washington, Miami, UConn, Alabama, Penn State, and Baylor. I am told that he has upcoming dates with UNC, NC State, and Oklahoma, although these have not been made public yet. Throughout the process, Mingo has not officially announced his visits until the week of the visit. The three schools I am hearing the most about right now are Baylor, Penn State, and NC State. Speaking with Mingo, currently Rivals’ No. 3 overall player in the 2026 class, he says he would like to make an early decision, but he is not opposed to waiting until after the early signing period. He has been adamant throughout this process that he wants to see teams play. He still has three visits left, and then the start of the college season, so things could shift with this recruitment as we continue forward.

Yesterday from Jamie Shaw and today from Joe Tipton. Think maybe UConn moved on.

Five-Star PG Dylan Mingo: Baylor, Penn State, Alabama, UConn, Miami and Washington have each hosted Mingo for official visits. He’s also planning to see schools like North Carolina, Oklahoma, and NC State before making a decision, possibly before the early signing period. The two schools I’ve heard the most about recently are Baylor and NC State but this recruitment is still fluid.

As good as he is/might be, I'm not sure I want 3 freshmen in the mix for starting in the 1-3 spots. Leaning experienced portal PG for leadership and age balance across the roster.

Seems like he wants a brink truck of cash
My guess is he ends up at a Washington or Miami for that exact reason. He can be a feature player for a year while also cashing out. Nothing about his recruiting behavior tells me his one year is about winning a title - 9 visits is outrageous.

Not disagreeing- I'm just saying I'm not so keen on 3 frosh amongst the top 6 guys in the 1-3 spots.
I’m fine with a portal PG if Silas is out, in fact I’d prefer an upperclassman there. Last time we had an impact freshman PG was….Shabazz?

Its pretty clear that this staff has a formula and budgets 2 years out. They value and reward retention more than most programs, they like to keep enough for 1 or 2 major portal pieces and they like to pay/value freshmen who fit their profile and are willing to accept fair value. Mingo does not fit the formula and the fact nothing materialized after hs visit and that he is still undecided tells you what you need to know. This ship sailed and its obvious to anyone who looks at how UConn recuits objectively.

Good take - I tend to find that is exactly what they do and smart approach. Run the program in 2 year chunks. Try to have enough guys with at least one year in the system to carry the baton, and then plug in immediate talent needs otherwise. I think they'll feast on the junior transfers going forward. You get two years of film on them, then 2 years in the Uconn system.

Mingo has felt a lot like Meleek Thomas. Early buzz & interest, but nothing congealing post visit whereas it's felt like the staff has let it die on the vine. I think once he said he wanted to take all 9 of his visits post coming into Storrs, it was basically dead. One thing you notice with Hurley, is once he finds a match, it comes together quick. He's looking for all-in out of the gates & commitment. Not some kid waffling, playing the field leisurely.

I'd say only way there is any chance this guy comes is if he waits till the spring, Mullins/Ball/Demary absolutely blow up and rocket up mocks, and it's clear there is a place for him to start. Even with that, post Landrew, would say long shot as would likely fill holes in portal.
