2026 Recruiting: Dylan Mingo breaks down visits; dives into upcoming officials & commitment timeline

This has nothing to do with Mingo, but I don't get this logic. If you're a guaranteed lottery pick why would you give a about the NIL money you make in your 8 months on campus? You're going to be signing a big ticket in a couple months. I would think NIL would be a much bigger draw for kids whose long-term earnings potential in the league is more uncertain.
Correct and some kids care about winning their one year in college and care about the school they're choosing.

I think there are a lot of guys who couldn't care less about "winning." Just over the last few years, you've had top guys each year like Dybansta, Ace Bailey, and Harper, Collier to USC, and Williams to Colorado, Nick Smith to Arkansas, Chet, Patrick Baldwin, etc. I think there are more and more guys who are just looking for the highest bidder because it doesn't really matter.

This year, you have Crowe to Missouri, Mingo perhaps to Penn State. I think it's going to happen more and more.

Granted, there are other factors at times (Mingo and PSU, for example), but I think a lot of top guys want to go to a place where they are clearly the #1 option, get paid, and then they get out. Mingo wouldn't necessarily be the obvious #1 guy if he came here, and he'd have a maniac pushing him to places he's never been before.

are all the top guys supposed to go to the same schools? when guys committed to Hurley when he hadn't won anything did they not care about winning? I wonder what a Boneyard would have looked like when Calhoun was building the program and trying to convince guys to go to a school and play for a coach who hadn't won anything.

Sure, some kids only care about money but a lot of them also want to win. BYU probably offered the most money to Dybantsa but I'm sure he also thinks he can win a title there, the team is loaded.

Harper's brother went to Rutgers and Harper became close friends with Bailey. They wanted to be a package deal at Rutgers and I'm sure they thought they were good enough to win. Arkansas was coming off back to back elite 8's when Nick Smith went there and he was a part of the #2 recruiting class in the country with Anthony Black and Jordan Walsh. Patrick Baldwin chose to play for his father. Who is Chet? Chet Holmgren is the only Chet I know of and he went to Gonzaga which is a perennial power and went to two title games.

Though connections seem to always abound when hearing the recruiting story, apparently Crowe Sr. and Dennis Gates shared a coaching connection back in the early 2000s with the Clips.

Missouri basketball recruit Jason Crowe to play in Norm Stewart Classic Missouri basketball fans won’t need to wait until 2026 to see 5-star recruit at Mizzou Arena

Of course not... I'm just finding the lists of some of these guys getting stranger and stranger, and obviously, there is a vast difference between an OAD type and Jalen Gaffney.

And I also in no way blame anyone for going somewhere where the NIL is peaked. I would do the same thing, and if I had a child in that situation, I would tell them the same. The ultimate goal of all of these kids of that caliber, I'd think, is to get to the NBA, not to win an NCAA title.

Prefer 247, and not sure when they updated, but On3 has Mingo up to the number 2 player in the class. The Raitliff's have also skyrocketed.

On3 trying to be different. That’s their MO even in football. They do a lot of things to drive engagement and this ranking surely will drive conversation.

Crower at 17 and Jordan Smith at 10 is laughable.

Mingo was my #1 want and will justify whatever he gets wherever he goes.

they ranked Bryce James as a top 100 recruit for the 2025 class when no one else was shameless enough to do so

Can someone turn on the Ringling Bros

Hey that federal shutdown is wreaking havoc

His flight for his official visit to NC State was also canceled and there is no information if he's going to reschedule. If you don't try to reschedule doesn't that mean you're really not interested?

I know I can always summon your attention on the Mingo thread :)
Mingo?

That fits with why we backed off on several kids the last three years and makes sense considering Dan Hurley's formula for building a championship level team.

Wonder if Mongo waiting to see how his prospective teams develop and progress this season vis-a-vis how he sees his style of play fitting in with the program he chooses.

Might get an announcement soon?

I wonder what Junior Count did or failed to do in order to warrant a drop from 35 to 61?
Great question as that is precipitous - he remains 28 with 247. I haven't spent much time on his tape. I did see some fun film on Landrew and Edgecombe going 1 on 1 recently.

Article doesn't say we're out but the assumption is we are. I think our only shot is if this drags out to the spring and we lose Silas, Solo, and Braylon all to the NBA.
Not that it matters as it relates to Mingo anymore but why would it take all 3 to leave to make room? If we’re losing 2 of those guys we need to bring in a starting G as a late commit Or from the portal otherwise it would mean either County or Furphy are starting next year
