Duke Post Game Thread

The final four has two teams UConn played and Michigan (who lost to Duke).

On Duke game - I do think UConn's offensive movement took their legs out a good amount in by the end of the game. Nerves and good defense may have been part of it also but they were noticeably sloppier on both ends in the last ten minutes.
I have to believe that our conditioning, like St John's is better than almost anyone we play, probably due to practices. I remember the announcers saying Duke was really gassed at one point in the game when they played St John's. Our guys keep running all over the place on offense and making them run through screens. Takes a toll. This game was one for the ages and will live on in our memories (and Duke's).

My son lives over the river from DC in Arlington and he texted me a couple hours before the game saying he scored a ticket in section 118 for $265. He said he has worn the same UConn attire down to his drawers for the first 3 games and he was conflicted if he should wear the same or something different since he would be in the arena. I said, son, you have to keep the same mojo going. Jack, thanks for sticking with it and keeping it going !

I think this surpasses Duke 04, Duke 99 and any of 11 and 14, just on sheer shock.

I was not even that mad at halftime, I was in my stage of coping. I thought well we can make this a game, we can still come back, but right now I'm resigned to saying they played great and we shot poorly.

Even when it was 7 multiple times, I was all fired up but we couldn't get it down...Mullins and AK miss 3s, Solo missed a couple shots, we just couldn't narrow it further. Then it was 5, then 4, then 3, then HOLY CRAP WHAT JUST HAPPENED - I didn't even scream right away, I was just stunned. It took my 3-5 seconds to yell downstairs to my family WHAT JUST HAPPENED
Exactly how I felt and I presume many others….we just couldn’t get over the hump and then all of a sudden it happened all at once

Alex is the first player with 3 final fours since Shane Battier in 99-00-01.

The 3 he hit down the stretch, after being cold from the arc, saving the ball from going out of bounds plus giving the last shot up to Mullins was the type of play you get from a championship senior. It was the opposite of what Duke had on their side of the floor.

Looking at the box score, Duke outperformed in every category except for turnovers (4 vs 13) and toughness, naturally.

We've lost games this season due to poor defense, foul trouble, poor outside shooting, and turnovers. We had some poor defense in the first half and poor shooting until the very end, but Reed and Alex stayed on the floor and we took care of the ball. This team can beat anyone when they don't beat themselves.

This game has very large 2004 vibes.
