Duke Post Game Thread

It's really true. They were 1-18 from the arc at one point and missing free throws and then Karaban hits one and then the logo shot by Mullins. If it was a movie I wouldn't believe it.
Hurley on hearing they were 1 – 18 from 3.
"I knew it was bad. I kept asking the assistant coaches and none of them would tell me."

Just gotta echo everything being said here already.

I said after last game Tarris was about to enter uncomfortable conversations. It might be time to have some…

The nuts on Mullins to ask for that shot. The nerve of Alex to check the clock and look for a better shot with so little time left. Demary setting up the trap perfectly. They all deserve so much credit, but obviously Mullins is etched into the lore forever now. Thank you for never being afraid, Braylon.

Third final 4 for Dan Hurley. What a legend, we’re so lucky to have him.

Luke is stuck with us for another week, I’m sure he’s devastated… ;)

We are going to the Final 4... and although Mullins obviously will rightfully go down in Huskies' lore for hitting an amazing shot, and Karaban with the smart basketball play to pass it to him, and Demary with the great defensive play........

This is so much about Mr. Tarris Reed. He has been an absolute MONSTER for us in this tournament, and he is by far the biggest reason we are going to Indy next weekend.

And I love that so much, because I remember 2 years ago when Dan invited Tarris specifically to come to the Championship Parade in Hartford to celebrate the 2023-2024 championship because he believed that Tarris was his man.

And you know what? he was absolutely, 100% correct. I could not be prouder of young Mr. Reed and watching him come into his own and realizing how good he could be, right before our eyes.

Deserved MOP of the East Region.

Thank you Tarris! YOU HAVE BEEN AMAZING!!!!! With a CAP-IT-AL "A"!

Some thoughts:

1) The refs called it straight up, which made the comeback possible. Yes, Boozer got away with a couple of charges and, as far as I can tell, players get 3 or 4 steps before a travel is called, but we had 8 blocks and some of those calls could have gone the other way.

2) Reed was amazing. The Center is BACK in college basketball.

3) UConn sucked for a big part of that game, and the Huskies beat the overall #1 seed. Respect.

I will think about this for decades. It was unbelievable. The senior to the freshman. When he did that, I actually knew it was going in.
I knew it as soon as it released from his hands.it is like he has better arch on his shot further out.

The Boozer Curse is alive and well!!
For those who don’t know, Carlos Boozer was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He had a handshake agreement with their owner Gordon Gund (who’s blind) to re-sign with the team before he was officially eligible for an extension. When he became eligible, he bolted for the Utah Jazz for more money instead of honoring his word. At that time, the Boozer Curse began. Everything and everyone associated with him is destined for failure, no matter how high the hopes may seem.

I never screamed that loud in my entire life. There is nothing like being a fan of this program. Blessed by the universe

Years ago I went to every home game. If it was a close game and UConn won, I couldn't talk the next day. One day, a bunch of kids came into class with nothing in their hands. I asked why they didn't have their book, notebook, etc.

"UConn won. You're showing a video today, right?"

The legend of Uconn basketball grows. This confirms there is something in the water in Storrs.

Hurley & Co. just gave us the most majestic comeback in the history of this program next to the Tate George shot.

Danny gets his win over Duke in an all timer, further quelling his demons. AK gets to his third FF, this one he gets to really put his name on. Mullins, for all the heat he has taken, gets cemented into the lore. Wow.

Scheyer nets yet another WTF are you thinking coaching moment. We get to rent that much more space in the heads of Duke fans, rent free.

Good god, what a win. I didn't think there was a chance after that first half.

Tarris Reed played the game of his career, after playing the game of his career earlier in the tourney. He single handedly kept us in this one. I eat all sorts of crow with that kid, because this tournament run has been easily the best of any Uconn big, ever. He put us on his back in this one and carried us.
Are there enough crows left in CT to feed your needs?

This is the second time we’ve toppled a bluebloods McDonald’s AA twin tandem. The boozers were the last to fall after the Harrison’s from Kentucky in 2014.
Let’s add the stat that we are the first team to come back and win against a 1 seed with a 15 point lead at half 134-1.
AK ties dans brother Bobby for most tournament wins and trails all timer laettner by 1. ( fir the era if 64 teams)
We fought off the exact same 19 point comeback as one of the largest comebacks in history vs MSU( they even showed the same graphic!!!). Only to make it happen and topple the overall 1#.
It’s thec2nd time we’ve taken down Duke as the overall #1(1999)
We are now tied all time in the tournament with Duke 5-5
This erases laetners game winner against us in 1990.
Even though I feel we don’t despise this group of dukies like the past teams. There best player left with shiner. Again!!
