Duke Post Game Thread

Scheyer deserved to lose that game. What other big time coach intentionally fouls up 3 with 10 seconds left? That screams “I don’t trust my team”. Just watched the D00k presser and Scheyer literally said nothing about UConn. Not congrats on the comeback, just “we don’t deserve to lose the game like that”

clint eastwood Deserve's got nothing to do with it. GIF

For those of us who had our hearts broken in 1990
Beating Duke is more than special.
I haven’t had a Tate George nightmare where I yell for him to just bat the ball into the backcourt for years and today was fitting retribution to expunge that memory
Unless you experienced 1990 its hard to understand the significance 77-74
Today is the cherry on top.

Wally Sczcerbiak said a short time ago and it's true about The UCONN Program- "As a player, your coaching staff, your teammates in your lockeroom sets you up to make that shot, as a player. I mean it just doesn't go in for no reason. There's a reason. why that shot goes in. It's because evryone in that UCONN lockeroom, players, coaches, fans, everyone, believed that that shot was going to go in. And as a result, Mullins, even though a freshman, has the cofidence . . ."

This epitomizes the UCONN program.

Props to Silas, was having a rough go with the unforced turnover in the 1st half that smoked momentum and then missing two wide open corner 3s in the 2nd half, but those two contested corner 3s broke seal and helped get us closer. Then of course the deflection, the fact that he's doing this with a high ankle sprain and was wearing a boot to media availability yesterday is nuts.

Hitting those threes was like Rashad hitting one down the stretch in 04. Gave them a fighting chance

Clearly, but in that spot a lot of guys filp it ahead where there are two unguarded players. Holding it means free throws and a last possession. He puts that above the defender, even straight up, the clock runs out.
Yep, but he didn’t.

Reeds passes to Demary for the corner 3 and Alex for the layup were huge
Alex's three with a minute left that was preceded by a boozer turnover was also monstrous
And the confidence and coolness of Alex giving it back to Mullins for the game winner is a thing of beauty
This team is a thing of beauty
