Duke Post Game Thread

If we finish strong, this win might get us a big opponent
Jim Calhoun had a motto of be careful of what you wish for. A most wonderful game day experience today. My voice is gone for a day or two. Many comments above relating to Joe and Bell. I want to hand out kudos to the O line that gave them time to execute the plays.
Same for D line, they all did the job today! A most wonderful day at The Rent.

Dang. After Ball St I said something along the lines of “the team’s ceiling gets lower every week”. I was embarrassingly wrong. The team got astronomically better after that game. 5-1 since including two wins over ACC teams

HUGE kudos to the coaching staff and the team. It hasn’t always been pretty but they’ve turned 1-2 into 7-3. Still a few more weeks to go but incredible improvement and momentum. LETS GO HUSKIES

Man, what a game! What an effort by the team and coaching staff. I’ve had my heart rate over 100 since the snap of the ball, and can’t seem to stop riding the high (no drugs, I swear, just coffee).

To those that were able to make it to the game tonight, you were the 12th and 13th player on the field. Even the broadcasters were feeling the atmosphere at the rent. So thank you to everyone that showed up in droves, stayed the whole game, and roared until the very end. I was not able to make the game yesterday but could feel The Rent shaking from my iPhone screen. Had I not known better, I would have swore I was watching a “big time” college football game. Well done UConn nation!

I told my wife yesterday before the game, if I had no interest in either team and had a completely objective perspective, I’d say Duke is in for a serious eye opener. And that’s exactly what happened. You could see the look of complete dismay when their offense couldnt move the ball the way they wanted in the first half, and then watching them have little hope of stopping our offense (that fourth down conversion stuck a fork in that Duke defense) and then finally watching them physically cry after the game was decided by the game-losing fumble. What a great feeling to be a Husky alum/fan at that moment! Great win tonight, let’s bask in this feeling for a bit. On to Air Force!

Side note: Anyone hear of any updates on Vereen or Honig? Honig walked off on his own but Vereen was in some serious pain.

Has a prototype build - could totally see him 6-7th round late flyer.
Given he's already 25, I think it's more likely he gets a FA deal and invite to camp. That Mora uses a pro-style offense makes Fagnano an ideal guy to run the practice squad at a minimum with the potential to compete for the backup QB position.

Or he could become Brady, lol.

Great game. Great crowd. The field looked great too, really liked the blue endzones. gave the field more pop. Should have a good crowd for next week too. Looking forward to the return of the scalpers roaming the lots at Rentschler Field.
Funny you say that. As I was about to enter the Rent, there was a gentleman near the gate asking nobody-in-particular, "Anyone have any extra tickets?" I have a feeling he was not asking for himself and his immediate family. 😎

The kick holder being punter Connor Stutz who IIRC also caught a high snap before a punt. Both Stutz and Freeman have been huge, and will be missed after this season.
The high snap may have helped the fake punt. On the fake punt, Stutz acted as if the non-existent snap to him was high. Great play regardless and important in this victory. Emotionally, this reminds me of victory over Pitt in late 2000’s.

Stutz also averaged 52.5 yards on his two punts.

Just a note to an above post: The ACC gets a playoff bid...guaranteed.
Well technically it’s the 5 highest rated conference champions. People are already joking that if Duke wins the conference the ACC might get left out altogether by having 2 G5 champs in the field. I highly, highly doubt that happens but, theoretically it’s possible I guess.
