The the science it's become? College kickers miss field goals constantly.
In 2006, 94 teams averaged 50% or better on field goals. Last season, 129 teams averaged 50% or better.

In 2006, 41 teams averaged 75% or better. Last year it was 62. That's nearly half of all division one football hitting 3 out of 4 field goals.

Evers had talent but needed work in the pocket throwing the ball. He can run but needs a pocket presence

Brock is a bright spot. I had high hopes for Sammis to be sneaky good. He comes off as a great football guy, but he seems to be learning. He’s a little better than Charlton though. At least the plays don’t take 5 minutes to develop in the backfield like they used to.

We played bad, then we played good, then we played bad and lost.

We found out more about this team tonight. They can compete against decent FBS teams. Now they need to learn how to play well enough to win against those teams.

Evers is still a question mark to me. Mora still thinks he's the best QB on the roster, yet his touch on passes is very suspect. His running ability helped get us back in it in the 3rd qtr, but he has to be a consistent passer if we're going to be able to win games.

We have FAU at the Rent next week to start our long home stand. They'll be tough. Hope we got some confidence from the last couple games and can put together a winning streak.

Disappointed, but not distraught. I’m numb to the losses at this point. I love UConn football and glad that we were competitive tonight, but it’s so hard to keep the same passion which I had in the early years with a roster full of transfers (Old guy yelling at the clouds). I’m happy to cheer for guys like Cam Edwards and I think we’ll win a lot of games this year. Go Huskies!

Am I angry that we didn't pull this game out? Abso-F#%&ing-lutely.

Am I encouraged with what our prospects as a program may be? Hell F#%&ing yes!

We need to add talent, we need our players to develop and we need to become more cohesive as a team. For the first time in longer than I can remember each of those things seems attainable.

Why are you using 2006?

Maybe Duke was trying to help UConn get into the ACC by not scoring on that last drive. 5 point loss on the road isn't bad. Duke is a decent team and yes UConn almost won but the score should have been 33-21. UConn could have won if it made plays. Duke could have won bigger if it made plays. It cuts both ways. Nevertheless, big improvement over the Maryland game.

Very happy with this performance as we did not embarrass the university. Really looking forward to next Saturday night, and then closing down Ted's after the game as we party it up after beating Florida Atlantic. Big 12 take notice!

They could’ve rolled over at 17-0. The pick six changed the tenor. So good on them

However, this game was inifinitely winnable and if Fagnano played I think we win

Don’t want to hear anything about fight and pluck and proud of our guys stuff. This was a huge missed opportunity

We really don't know that, and I'm getting tired of that being the narrative.

If Fagnano gets his number called, nobody will root for him harder than me. But he misses his 2 throws today, and there's no reason to believe that he would have been more effective against a Duke defense. Merrimack is NOT the barometer here...

Moral victories are year one stuff. This is year three. Am I happy we look competitive? Sure. But the goal is to win.

Just a reminder that Evers was a foot on the line from taking the lead in the 4th quarter of this game. I don't know if he's the best QB that we can field, but I know he gave us a chance to win. This Nick vs Joe stuff is getting tired.

The coaching staff sees them both every day, and at some point, you've gotta trust their call. The team is noticeably getting better. We're not there yet, but it's giving me faith in the staff that they're doing the right things...

He would have completed more passes and given us a better chance to win.

But go ahead and die on that hill.

The team saw they could easily beat a team they were superior to last week. This week the team saw they could hang with and almost beat a team that were deemed inferior to. Next week they face a team that shouldn't scare them, that should light a fire under their arses and will them to 2-2.

All you guys are way off. This was a great rousing moral victory for UConn and we have a real chance to take home the Moral Victory National Title this season. We just have to keep losing close games.

Uh, we had a 1 point lead in the 4th.

They were good last year. We are a bit better this year for sure but they took a big step back, especially at QB and on the LOS.
Duke is terrible FBS team. Last year Duke team was much better. Except for Miami the rest of ACC is terrible. The SEC has 6 teams that would steam role Duke by half time. Sort of like when NC State played Tennessee. There is a major divide in FBS. Like watching NFL and midget football. UConn is better than last year.
