I echo temery's sentiments. Other than the occasional snide comment (which are more than welcomed) I don't like obsessing over Puke.
They are the one's who should be obsessing over us because we have had their number since the 1990 shot and because we have since won 6 nattys. And based on my last experience with a Puke fan (see my post #57) they ARE obsessed with us. I actually thing they have UDS - UConn Derangement Syndrome, also known as HDS - Husky Derangement Syndrome.

Let's keep it that way. Wear your threads everywhere, especially outside of CT...be proud.
I read through Devil's Den a lot during the NCAAT. Believe me, they hate UConn, at least the poster over there do. They hated and were resigned to the fact in the Elite 8 of both years that UConn was going to win the title.

I get some of the sentiment about the Dook stuff. But every great team needs a rival. We really don’t appear to have a real one in the BE.

I think it would be a good thing if Dook and UConn played every year on a neutral site. I know the coaches would despise it but it would be great for the college game. Right now there are no other dominant teams, maybe Kansas, but not after last year.

Dook is not even a dominant team but they are the best choice because they are the biggest brand in CBB. It pains me to say that about their brand but as others have said I will take chips instead of notoriety.

The holiday tournaments are great when they draw the right teams and hope for the marquee matchups.

But if our fan bases keep on disliking each other like they currently do UConn v. Duke could become a nice interest generator.

As far as I am concerned the three brand names in CBB are UConn, Dook and Kansas. Some may take issue with such a small list but tight now everyone is a level below us.

I just think having the brand names play each other in season would draw viewers. Maybe slot it somewhere the game is not competing with NFL games and in the dead period in college football in December. That is part of a marketing plan.

Hurley talks about how poorly Mens CBB is marketed. Imagine a close game against Dook on national tv. Maybe we have a Sellers/Laetner moment or even a little extra physicality in the game. After a few years it would become a must watch game.

I know this is pretty far out there but great marketing usually is created by thinking out of the box.

Look what the NFL did. Put the Rams against the Lions first week of the season. On Sunday night. The history with Goff/McVay and Stafford never winning anything while in Detroit. Then winning an SB the first year after he left.

Also the cheap hit on the Rams TE Higbee by the Detroit player who did the same thing to another player earlier in the year. Storylines that will be used in commercials leading up to the game.

I am fairly certain the Rams did not love the idea of having to go to Detroit again but if they had fans in their home stadium the game is probably in LA. Either way there are story lines that can be used. And it helps to continue getting Detroit in front of a national audience in a game they probably will win on their home field. Marketing……

"And to be clear, we’re pretty sure that Danny was rooting for Bobby 100 percent but perhaps transferring his resentment and sense of inadequacy to Duke.

And it’s still there. And it wouldn’t surprise us at all if that’s what Flagg was talking about.

Come to UConn, Cooper. Help me us slay the dark blue dragon.

But Duke won’t oblige, which must be really frustrating."
Duke fans view UConn and its latest successes the same way Marie Antionette viewed the peasants when she said “let them eat cake“. The economic differences are there, $40+ million a year just for being ACC Duke and $4 to $7 million a year for UConn in a very poor basketball only conference. So the answer to the question “are Duke fans delusional” is yes, and very much so. Slay the dragon.

savvy duke fans realize just how tenuous their position is, as a school with a small alumni base which drives little in terms of football revenue.

They are lucky to be propped up by FSU/Clemson right now and they know it.

That op-ed is a desperate twisting of armchair psychological hypotheses by a Dewke fan who can't reconcile the idea that they aren't king of the hill.

It's delicious in its sad desperation.

Reread my post Tom. I was asking why would Duke care whether people are whining on this site or not. The answer is they wouldn't.

I agree with you that the obsession over Flagg so long after he made his decision is odd.
One thing that may have stirred up some on this site was the allegation (with no proof, just conjecture) that it was DH that used negative recruiting with Flagg when all Flagg said was some coaches used it.

The Dook fans chose to say it had to be DH because he was the last coach in the sweepstakes before Flagg chose Dook.

It's just them trying to salvage some dignity after UConn handily swept the last two championships and now has one more than them.

Wore mine on several recent trips. Denmark/Norway in June the TSA agent said what a great team when he saw my UConn polo, then several passengers (Michigan and Boise St.) on the flight and then some people in our tour group. In california now and the flight attendant on my first flight said "go Huskies".
