Wow! Duke did a grest job of putting photos up. Many of them feature the Huskies.

They do a great job covering their team.......

Thanks! We always work to provide balanced coverage including galleries with photos of players from both teams. That is much easier to do when Duke's opponent plays quality basketball, as Connecticut always does.

I'll publish a more detailed recap from Rob either later today or tomorrow.

Great photos! Do you dictate the game situation as you are taking them?

DWHoops - really great photos and a nice recap. Your site is great - just curious, I do not see a credit for your photographer, just for the site. Whoever you have taking the photos does a really good job.

Love the pic of Kiah blocking EWill!

There are some terrific photos.

I agree, I saw the Kiah block and hoped we would see it again.

It's me. See my avatar? :) And my byline is at the top of the pages with the photos.

Thank you, Orin!!!

Great photos and great captions. I like the ones of the coaches, and the ones of the players are great.

Well whatever they're paying you ;), you deserve a raise.

I don't know if you cover every game like that but, your hard work shows. MORE than a professional effort!

Thanks Jim, that's pretty much what I do for every game - though as I mentioned Rob's writing work isn't done yet.

I hadn't pulled out the non-Duke player photo "tags" since last year's NCAA Tournament but I did so for this game. It requires some setup (and what doesn't, given that I've built and programmed the entire website from scratch! ;) ) but that advance work makes the captioning go a lot faster.

I'll also be shooting Virginia at UNC Friday as a bonus game for the site and I needed the tagging for that anyway, so I figured why wait.

Thanks, I do enjoy writing the captions almost as much as taking the photos.

Rob's DWHoops Game Recap and Duke Player Analysis are up. So that's it for our coverage. On to face Wake Forest and the rest of the ACC schedule.

It's interesting to note that Duke has not lost to a team outside the top five in Cameron over the past five years. #3 UConn in 2012, #1 UConn in 2010, and in 2008 #2 Tennessee, #3 UNC, and #4/#5 Maryland.

Does anybody here know how many games are left on the current UConn/Duke contract?

.-.
Last night was the first game of a 4 game series.

Thanks for the info... been wondering about that myself. I have a feeling that the 2014 matchup in Durham will be a marquee matchup. Just a feeling....

if duke can't get some shooting guards... maybe it'll be a good game

Looks like two more cold January trips for me then. Is the general opinion that this game will continue to be played on campus, or would we possibly see Hartford? And are all the blizzards scheduled for odd years?

i hope they're scheduled on campus more support from the students, but it'll probably be one and one

The best compliment I can give your photos is that you don't need words to tell the story of the game.

The words are good, though, and here is the caption I liked best: "Gray hits her third three pointer to make it 19-15 UConn. She would only have four more points the rest of the way."

I think UConn was most concerned with Gray's driving ability; hence, Kelly and Tiff playing a step off her when she launched the second and third deep treys. Since CD singled out Gray as the x-factor whom UConn wanted to contain, I expected Kelly (not Bria) to guard her to start the game. Gray and Hartley were the 1-2 PGs in their class, weren't they? I wonder if the coaches threw that down as a challenge to Bria.

Gray is a real nice passer. She'd fit in well at UConn. But I'm still glad we got Bria. She's quicker and has a great feel for the game, knowing when her team needs her to take over. And she's clutch.

I think Sims was #2

Augh, how could I forget Sims? Sims, Gray, and Shoni Shimmel were the top three PGs, then Bria. This is why I don't fuss about recruiting and tend to trust that the players the coaching staff will be the "right" ones to fit UConn's system. Bria is #14 on the list, and there are maybe two players above her that I would consider as good as her, let alone better.

By the same token, Bria might not be performing as well under another coach.

There really is no way to account for "fit" in recruiting rankings. Sure, some allotment could be made for style of play, but how can you quantify or rank personality fit or one coach's ability to motivate/work with a particular player?

Bria is a great fit for Geno and UConn.
