I had a pinched nerve in my neck area once which lasted a month. It was painful to turn my head at all.
I would argue that a pinched nerve is different from a stiff neck.I had a pinched nerve in my neck area once which lasted a month. It was painful to turn my head at all.
But we learned a lot about Paige's injury and Ice's injury despite HIPAA. Why can't they release more info about what makes this neck stiffness so difficult to treat?I imagine there are some HIPAA rules governing how much Geno can say about health issues. And just common sense privacy issues.
Please let me know what part of that post doesn't make senseNone of your post makes any sense.

What’s going on with josh Allen???It would be nice if the Coach would actually level with the media (and fans). This has to be more than a stiff neck. A 19 year old kid should be able to play through a "stiff neck." Is she able to practice? I'm starting to get concerned about how injury-prone she seems to be. She is a fan favorite and a key contributor when she is on the floor at 100%, but the problem is her health. It seems like the training staff should be able to work out the kinks from a "stiff neck", with therapy and/or medication so what is really happening?
If it gets down to 8, I would think so. I think Geno can live and function with 9 HEALTHY players.Only 9 players available now. Does UConn look to the transfer portal for mid season help?
Speak for yourself. JK I've never had a bad back(especially at at that age) but I don't think older men face the same physical challenges of young women who can't even get order a PBR. I think along with professional sports everyone overestimates how much "resources" are at an athletes disposal. Athletes are not fed with a silver spoon.Well said, Bills Fan. I understand about privacy and HIPAA, and actually don't expect full reports. Still, regardless of what we do or don't know, the reality is that Caroline's got a physical problem that is keeping her off the court. In combination with the head injury that kept Caroline out for quite a stretch last season and definitely hampered her performance, this is very worrisome.
Like I'm sure many of you, I've had a bad back for most of my life and often have neck issues that take lots of attention to work out. Still, it's been manageable. With all the attention and care Caroline has at her disposal, this stiff neck is seemingly more than just a routine stiff neck. Geno's now said three or four times that's getting better each day, but...
My 26 year old son has back issues and has had them for 10 years. Everyone is differentSpeak for yourself. I believe his exact quote was that “it’s something she may have to deal with all season.” That’s not exactly “plaguing” Caroline, but it’s certainly not a good thing.Did I hear Geno say, in the Kutztown post-game presser, that CD's neck problems could plague her for the year?
I’m pretty sure at a school like UConn, athletes get top of the line medical care from doctors we would not even have access to! I don’t begrudge them, mind you but I would guess, if anything, people underestimate the resources at an athletes disposal.Speak for yourself. This is just in another long line of bad luck for this team since 15-16. There is no positive spin for this. She's needed. And she has to learn to play with the team and she needs to play. Too much was made of her leading the team in scoring for a stretch. You have to learn to play and at a high level with a new team dynamic.I'm a huge Caroline fan and of Paige as well but the reality is and this is going to get me a lot of thumbs down but we have to face a player"s best ability is their availability and so far Paige and especially CD have been unavailable I know injuries are a part of the game and so are players who are injury prone and so we're left at looking at potential and not results. So far all the comments I've read are about potential. Uconn has never won a chip on potential only on performance and we are not seeing that as of right now so I'm rooting and putting my faith in the players who are available.. Just MHO
Has Caroline shown you something, hoophuskee, that would indicate her inability to play well with this group of players? This is just in another long line of bad luck for this team since 15-16. No. But "play well" isn't sometimes "good enough" vs other top teams.Has Caroline shown you something, hoophuskee, that would indicate her inability to play well with this group of players?
Imo that's a big reason why she practices with her teammates; It's to get used to one another. And teams that practice more and play more, it's logical to assume they will generally play better with more practice and with more playing time. It's why we hear sometimes that All-Star teams don’t work as well. It doesn't mean the All-Star team stinks. Just that it';s not as good as it can be.She has been practicing with her teammates. At this time we have no factual reason to think she needs to get used to playing with them.
A ton? She had a pre-existing hip injury from high school and she got whacked in the head by a kid in last year’s Xavier game. That’s two injuries and one is years old.Geno also said that when Caroline and Lou are both on the floor ( then he said an expression like "whew". The impression I got is that Caroline and Lou could put up points. The data indicates that Caroline is injury prone. She's had a ton of injuries. Absolutely love her as a player though and looking forward to her return. Hopefully they are just playing it safe with her. They knew they didn't need her yet.
WOW JUST.....WOW!!It would be nice if the Coach would actually level with the media (and fans). This has to be more than a stiff neck. A 19 year old kid should be able to play through a "stiff neck." Do you mean play through an injury? This is just in another long line of bad luck for this team since 15-16. There is no positive spin for this. She's needed. Caroline has played with this team in game situations, last season. If she is on the floor with Azzi, Nika, Aaliyah and Dorka then she is very familiar with everyone. Could also include Amari in the list. And from what we have seen of the newbies, Caroline shouldn't have any problems blending in or vice versa. This is just in another long line of bad luck for this team since 15-16. Good question....or maybe playing with a neck brace huh? After all, it's for the sake of the team, and some people on the BY tht probably don't have daughters playing sports, cmon Caroline step up it's only a stiff neck........GEEZZZZ how abt a little dose of compassion.Do you mean play through an injury?
No.Do you mean play through an injury?
So when it's ever mentioned that teams that have played several years together that that's a strength (such as what the Baylor coach said last year South Dakota vs Baylor in NCAA’s), but now it doesn't matter at all that our team's probable top 3 perimeter players (Azzi, Caroline, Lou) haven't even played a full season together ? CD averaged just 18 minutes (650 minutes 36 games.).Caroline has played with this team in game situations, last season. If she is on the floor with Azzi, Nika, Aaliyah and Dorka then she is very familiar with everyone. Could also include Amari in the list.
