He's much more raw than any of us thought he'd be but he's so young. That being said, having absolutely no fundamentals, instincts or basketball IQ at this stage is alarming. I guess you can't really blame kids in this day and age, AAU is the devil. His off-ball defense is a clone of Amare Stoudemire, which is a dreadful, dreadful thing. The basics aren't there: ball-you-man, anticipation, keeping your knees bent, etc. He's a step behind on far too many plays. Sure, you can grow and recover from it but in this day and age not many kids do. It's like it's something ingrained in each player at a young age or not. Right now he simply has no clue how to play the game of basketball. A thunderous dunk and a highlight block is the extent of his game.

At this point he's DeAndre Jordan, who was a 2nd round pick a few years back. An NBA team has to be very brave to take him in the Top 5 even with a weak draft class.

??? What part of anything I posted suggested that I thought I was a scholarship Div. 1 basketball player? The kid is soft and immature. Do you disagree?

I think Drummond has tremendous physical skills but doesn't possess tremendous basketball skills, just yet.

He's an 18 year old trying to learn better basketball skills and he had his freshman season interrupted when Calhoun missed the meat of the Big East schedule.

He's had his ups and downs and today was clearly a down. Soft though? No way. Did you see him shut down the BE leading scorer Kevin Jones in the WVU game?

Drummond had unrealistic expectations set for him and didn't reach them this year. That to me doesn't make him 'soft'. We can only hope we get 1 more year out of him.

Deandre Jordan still does nothing besides catch alleyoops and block shots and he got offered a 4 year 43 million dollar contract at age 23 that was instantly matched by the clips

Not sure if this game has any affect on his draft status. He clearly needs another year in college. I just can't see him coming back.

I didn't mean the comparison as a knock. If Jordan was the 2nd overall pick though he would be looked at as a bust, that was my point. Still pissed the Knicks passed on him, but I guess it worked out with Chandler eventually.

I didn't mean just this one game but the entire season. He'll go high based on his physical gifts, no doubt. I just don't see him being any different than Jordan as a player.

An NBA team will roll that dice that he's the next Amare.

Right now he looks like the next Kwame Brown.

A reasonable middle ground? Maybe Andrew Bynum? I think that's probably a good comparison.

Of course I saw the WVU game. He played well for ten minutes after being told he would be benched if he didn't. I agree that he needed a lot more of that. The expectations were not unrealistic or placed upon him solely by others. I've said several times, as has anyone who has watched him, that he has freakish physical abilities. But he is lacking skills, maturity and toughness. And he talks out his ass too much. Kids do that. I hope we get the chance to see him grow at UConn, but I fear we won't.

He was over-matched in college, it would be downright ugly in the NBA. I really want to see the player that the "scouts" were saying would be the next great big man in the NBA......

Not sure exactly what they saw, or if they actually saw anything and were merely disseminating hearsay....

I hope he stays. It would be fun watching him develop at Uconn.

I had heard he had a double-double average. Maybe BE games? Who knows.

He's a freshman that still hasn't learned basic fundamentals. Sorry, but he's no amare, webber,Howard or whatever ridiculous projection some of us had. He's garbage.
My favorite comment ever. You're Chris Webber, or you're garbage.

From what was said of AD before he set foot on campus many assumed he`d come into college and dominate from day 1 like oden, sullinger,A.davis, durant etc. but he didnt live up to all the hype. i thought the kid was going to come in and average 15-10-4 from what i was hearing. then he took the court and we saw rather quickly how far behind his skills were behind his physical gifts. many of us thought he would steadily improve as the season progressed and we would see the great player we had all been expecting but he did not progress and started to reveal he was a soft player.
he should come back next season because he is far from being nba ready right now. he has zero post game, doesnt know how to box out and is lazy on defense. if he does comeback next season itll be only to improve his draft stock because if we are ruled ineligible for the tourney there really isnt much to play for other than a big east championship which could be watered down with wvu, lville, cuse and pitt likely gone and villanova, stjohns, gtown and nd not being as strong as they have been in recent years. this kid has a world of physical talent but he has zero skill and needs to be taught from the ground up through this summer. he needs to decide quickly if he is going or staying so he can start asap on improving his game with the right people.

I am "chilled out". I was unaware of that. Carry on.

Oh yeah, were you "chilled out" just like the guys were on the court today?? Being "chilled out" doesn't get you wins!!!

In reference to the guy that didnt agree with the term cancer...Im not standing up for the poster but it is a figure of speech. Lets all step back off the ledge and check ourselves at the door. This post and our beloved coach have nothing in common unless you want to twist things.

Not to mention that he completely screwed up the chemistry of the entire team. Weve all talked about Alex all year and how hes had no confidence. Roscoe didnt start playing until about 25 games into the year. He messed up the whole dynamic of the team. Ive defended him all season, but this is really sad. We get our best recruit ever and he may have screwed up the entire season. Again he is a really great kid and he wants to win, but man did he underachieve.
So he made the kids not able to adjust? Kids need to know they're job isn't secure and nothing is given to them. Look at roscoe worked hard the whole season same with giff. Everyone should calm down on Drummond. Kids 18 and went from playing smaller kids who he dominated to srs who have much more
Experience. It's a team game

I didn't like that someone call him "Andrea," but I also think it's childish and silly when some posters insist we write "Dook".
It obscures the message one is trying to convey, IMO.

If had the advance PR that Drummond had, who knows how things might have turned out. The hype ignored the fact that Andre was so raw. In doing so, it created false expectations. However, now that he has good coaches, it really concerns me that he's still not showing improvement. How can this be? He doesn't block out, hasn't increased his FT percentage, there's no sign of offenseive moves, and he doesn't rebound with conistency. Why?
