Nah, the lack of a filter and an over-inflated sense of worth allows people to say to stupid things. The First Amendment just protects them from government retaliation or restriction when they stupid things about the government.

I agree. This “us vs. them”, “basketball vs. football” is ridiculous. We need to be UConn fans!

This is the way it is, not going to change anytime soon. Happens quite a bit with Duke fans and UNC here as well. Fans of the basketball team are not necessarily fans of the football team. These types of fans are not alumni, just fans.

Many, many folks pick a team they like and become fans...some from childhood.

And that is just fine. Some watch different sports...and that is OK as well.

I like soccer a lot...and I realize that many don't...and that is all right.

The ones that complain about football maybe, especially the "drop football" crowd. But some of us just don't have the time. College football, if you want to enjoy it, is a commitment, and I don't live in CT, so live games are out of the question.

I desperately want them to succeed, as our chances at conference realignment depend solely on their success. Edsall better get going.

I've already dialed back on other sports (MLB and NFL); I've got UCONN MBB and sometimes WBB, Patriots and Celtics. Plus a general soccer fan and USMNT. Can't commit any more time as an adult.
