Today it was revealed that the UConn staff is recruiting Jaden Rashada. If you’re not aware, Jaden pledged to attend University of Florida, and then sued for millions when he decided to leave. He then failed at Arizona State and couldn’t crack the depth chart at Georgia. Now our staff is recruiting him in the transfer portal. Have we yet to learn our lesson? This kid is the same as Evers, except worse because he is clearly a money chaser. Is this really what we want? Joe will beat him for the starting role and the kid will steal money from the school like he’s doing for Florida. This seems so silly.
You put way too much on seeing UConn's name in a tweet. If a player has a conversation, a school gets named.

And because you apparently don't care, UConn's new QB coach worked with the kid at Georgia. I'd think that a coach that spent a year with the kid probably knows more than you do.

But yes let's just say silly things without any sort of context.

Y'all people need to take a breath and think before you type.

That last part goes against everything we stand for.

I do not know if he was defrauded, or had the other side breach a binding agreement, in regards to the University of Florida. But I don’t understand why, if that’s what happened, a college athlete has to suffer losses and not seek legal redress in a situation where other people would. The thought that one knows someone is troublesome because he sues someone else, without knowing more, is incredibly stupid.

What does this even mean? Did you read about the situation in Florida? He clearly has a cause of action.

You know UCONN players get paid for NIL right? Which ones should we kick out for being money chasers? Let’s assume several chose UCONN because they offered the most money.
I agree with your logic. I have no inside information on this story, but if promises are made, and then not kept, why shouldn’t you fight for your rights? I can’t think of anyone who would just walk away in that situation. This is big money

I would trust Mora to decide if the kid is worthy of a second chance. UConn could be a good place to rehab his image. We certainly wouldn't be paying him like P4 schools would.
SECOND chance?

I'ld be willing to bet that there is an agent/attorney waiting to cash in on settlements from all those "agreements". This stuff is a holy mess and it is so sad that there is not the leadership within college athletics to take this on and try to fix it.

If I were Mora and Benedict I wouldn't go anywhere near this kid.
It’s just the tip of the newly formed Iceberg:

This is now going to become more and more common. Until there is some form of a contract or accountability held to the NIL paying side, these kids are ripe for getting screwed over.

As for Rashada, I have full faith in Mora to only bring in players who help build the team mentality as well as success. Our QB room actually looks good for the first time in a long time. If this young man seems like he wouldn't fit the culture or is not worth bringing in, I trust Mora's reasons.

You're correct. We do not know who the harmed party is and, certainly, the player in question here is entitled to enforce contractual rights. That said, he's on his fifth school in three years. I don't think staying away from all that noise is "incredibly stupid".

I'll also say this, I do think the current state of things exposes these kids. I also think it exposes the schools. I suspect there are a lot of opportunities to claim offers have been made when in fact they have not.....especially if these kids are being represented by unscrupulous agents. This whole process appears to be very unstructured and that allows folks to take advantage.

College athletics is in desperate need of leadership to address this mess. I don't see it anywhere because just about everyone is trying to figure out how to game the system so they can win more games. Very sad......

Ok but at the same time others have to play the odds. I would hope a school playing with this much money as CFB does now would look into the situation but for uconns sake or another schools sake this player does not deserve the benefit of the doubt and the chances must be weighed

I just don't see this as an actual reality for us. This kid is going to want to start wherever he goes. We have a starter incumbent in JF and another who paid decent NIL money to come and start in NE. Can't see us spend more money on a QB who isn't familiar with our system, missed Spring ball to acclimate with it, and would want to start.

We have other needs that we can throw money at.

how does Drew have 2 years of eligibility left?
COVID year and a redshirt maybe a medical too. Played in 2 games both 2021 and 2023. Maybe one of those years had a season ending injury.

Anybody else get the sense that UNC is heading right off the rails? I mean a head coach who is dating someone almost 50....5......0 his junior. Maybe I'm jealous......

Their coach's dating life has exactly what to do with whether the football program is off the rails?
