Effort includes mental focus and being locked in, playing smart, bearing down and making shots. They didn’t do a lot of that, and we know they’re capable. So what would be your explanation? I don’t get the tone of sarcasm in your post when there’s almost no other explanation for this loss than what he said.

If they can't bring focus into that game at this point in the year, how can you expect them to bring "focus" to any other game? If anything, they looked confused. Great teams aren't scampering for focus in March.

We outrebounded them. Shot well at the FT line. More points off TOs.

As many have said, even shooting 20% from 3 we win.

If you want to call it a lack of effort go ahead but those numbers don’t indicate a lack of effort.
 
Allowing a team to shoot 48/38% against us is a clear lack of effort on defense.

14 turnovers a huge problem.

Thats your take I guess. No one was discussing that, he was talking about this game and you sarcastically lol’d.

Now you’re talking about whether they’re a great team or if they’re a great team and they’ll win in March.

At the time it was definitely not. This was the last game of the year against a last place team to tie for the BE title, and maintain a one seed.

I’m ok with a mid season hiccup. When it really matters at this time of year, you cannot blow that game. Creighton was also a 5th place team.
 
Appears to be a lack of practice against both on ball pressure and off ball pressure defense. It used to be rare against us and now it is being shown as effective by more and more opponents. As mentioned numerous times above getting the ball into the paint can be effective but you have to get it past the guards/wings. Our film will show this to NCAA opponents. They aren't stupid. Staff can't pretend it won't be coming; need to work on this as well as inbounding which is the same thing. Practice attacking it. IMHO.
 
RuffRuff is right, this team should forfeit the season. There really is no reason to play any of the games right? It’s that over?

3 seasons going on - they had a championship game set up to win a reg season crown in the finale, lost fairly embarrasingly.

Now the BET

Then the NCAA tourney.

No one question’s how bad the loss was on Sat. St. John’s lost by 30 to us and looked inept then looked completely different the next time out. Past events aren’t always indicative of the future. I was pissed on Sat. but to think this team can’t win the BE tourney or play into the third weekend of the ncaa is crazy. They are favored for one and in the mix for the second. What else do you want? Maybe i am a homer but I like our chances on a neutral court vs just about anyone. I think Saturday was the outlier, not the 27-4 record.

What happens if we roll through the BE tourney? Then everyone on here will be pounding their chests and saying we should get number 7? That will be as silly as these last few days have been.

No, winning the BET is by no means a suggestion of what they are going to do in the dance.

I know the numbers say we are good defensively, but just watching the games, and not looking at numbers, we look real slow on defense. Our guys get schooled quite a bit on getting beat off the dribble and it seems like we give up a lot of open shots.

What happened to Hurley was keeping something secret, like after the St John’s game? You don’t believe that anymore? In your mind, this loss wasn’t to keep that secret team initiative intact?

I think the only thing we have is that non-BE reffing frees up our offense a bit. I just haven't seen it working in a way where it would matter that much. Our offense KP 15 last year, 28 this. Even early in the OOC, it was our defense that was winning. Hassan actually ran the system better than Silas, and we had a lob threat last year. This year feels like we just have to hit threes, not turn ball over.
