And stand up tall. We go into the season with 3 post players, and lose two. SMH. I’m not Chicken Little, but only 2 games in, but it’s beginning to look like this may not be our year.Amari, Stand Up!!!!!!!!!
Too many injuries. Two starters out.I don't think you are. As stated before, She really hasn't show anything that can be classified as a solid Big.Amari is the key to the season?
I’m waaaaaay missing the boat on her I guess.
Dorka broke her right wrist. This break was to her thumb on her left hand. The only silver lining here is that this injury is to her none-shooting hand.Wow that's great work to figure out when it happened. Was that the same side where she broke her wrist? I thought maybe it was just her wrist being sensitive or sore.
Geez…..where’s Tony when you need him?And stand up tall. We go into the season with 3 post players, and lose two. SMH. I’m not Chicken Little, but only 2 games in, but it’s beginning to look like this may not be our year.Too many injuries. Two starters out.
Portal ???Only 9 players now. And Ducharme is limited. Any foul trouble and they are really in trouble. Walk ons or the transfer portal ASAP.
Juhasz broke her left wrist.Dorka broke her right wrist. This break was to her thumb on her left hand. The only silver lining here is that this injury is to her none-shooting hand.
We mostly need Amari to play good defense and rebound. There's plenty of offensive firepower on this team to pick up the slack. This could be an opportunity for Amari to show off her offensive talent.
She's a good mid range shooter.
She can even draw some fouls and make foul shots.
It's time for the next woman up.
Let's go Amari!
Aubrey. She earned it.Now, who starts? AE, Azzi, Nika, Lou, AND ?? (Aubrey? Caroline? or Ayanna?)
Correct. According to Alexa Philippou the thumb injury is on the same hand. It was the type of foul that used to start a fight when I was playing in the playground. Just a pure " You ain't making me look bad foul".Juhasz broke her left wrist.
A walk-on who can give meaningful minutes against a top 10 team?
If we even have to ask the question, it means we're not prepared for the answer.
At this point there is a big difference between what Dorka provides vs. what Yanna can do. yanna has not shown the ability to provide anywhere near the offense that DJ can. Big difference, big.I would not be at all surprised if Ayanna is in tomorrow's starting lineup. She has already demonstrated that she can rebound against almost anybody. The only thing limiting her will be foul trouble.
If she can stay on the floor (highly dubious), she can fill in for Dorka with very little loss of team effectiveness. If she succeeds in that role in the next three games, UConn as a team will be much stronger in the front court than if Dorka's injury had not occurred.
I stand corrected.Juhasz broke her left wrist.
Caroline might have the worst "stiff neck" in the history of basketball!I like your optimism, but I think Caroline is still a tad too rusty to start. I will be happy if she gets at least 15+ minutes, more than enough for her to kick some booty.
I originally thought that it was this play, too. But if you look closely, you can see that her thumb is already taped at this point and it was not taped when the game started. I think the injury was in the first half.Terrible news. Dorka has been playing well and she’s also a leader on the court. The next several games are going to be challenging without her.
I went back and took a look at the film. The injury occurred with 7:41 left in the game. Dorka stole the ball and proceeded to lead a 2 on 1 break with Nika, who she passed to on the break. Nika returned the ball to Dorka for a would be layup. But Gonzales from TX swiped at the ball, fouling Dorka on her left hand.
Dorka grabbed her hand and shook it for a couple seconds, then proceeded to miss both foul shots. But there was no other indication that she had broken her thumb.
Oh my goodness. We have the makings of Enola Holmes 3 right in front of us!I originally thought that it was this play, too. But if you look closely, you can see that her thumb is already taped at this point and it was not taped when the game started. I think the injury was in the first half.
Exactly what other option in the post does Geno have?I'm real sorry to say that there is NO way Amari will start or play meaningful minutes. Believe me, I hope to hell I'm wrong but, she has shown nothing to me that gives me any reason to think she is anything but a 4 year bench warmer, unless this injury bug hits the rest of our Bigs, Geno will go small before he allows Amari to get much more then 10 mins or probably less.
And I don't see many other options that Geno has off the bench. I expect Geno to give her a chance early at significant minutes and then see how that goes.It seems a lot of BYers are expecting Amari to step up, citing her offensive capability but I don't remember seeing anything about her defensive capability that would help us tomorrow. We shouldn't need her on offense but her defense will definitely be needed.
Amari, if you are called upon, please make a lot of us BYers regret these posts. Please.
I must have missed people criticizing Dorka for her game against Texas. I thought she played very well and so did many others that posted. It is ironic that the UCONN "fans" who were criticizing Dorka for being too slow & too soft vs. Texas are now upset because she can't play tomorrow. Karma!
