Dorka officially confirms return!!!! (Merged thread)

Great news! She will be a vital part of next year's team....her skills/attitude/heart will make us better.

Front court:
seniors: Dorka
juniors: Aaliyah
frosh: Ice and Ayanna

inside and outside
senior: Aubrey
soph; Caroline

I would expect all of the above to be in the regular rotation.
Junior Piath and soph Amari: join the above?...what kind of leap will we see come
by game one in 11/2022? Opportunities abound in practices pre-season to mix it up with Dorka and the other
bigs...earn their way on the court.

Still wondering a bit: Dorka courtside Friday? How about Sunday? Obviously only with medical OK.

Immediately after posting it, that was my first thought. So sorry.

Ha - not a problem! If I only went by titles, I would really be in a lot of trouble, both here and elsewhere in my life! :)

We love you Droka with heart.

Still stinging about what happened to her. Life can be so unfair at times. As for next year, I believe Dorka has some significant upside in her game. With a stronger, more powerful base her other skills will increase greatly in effectiveness. She needs to it that weight room, get a tape of Kevin McHale post moves and emulate it every time she is on the practice court and have someone trying to body her around the whole time. If it works, the WNBA scouts will be drooling.

Till next year!!!!!!

Praise God that she transferred into UCONN, and may she be blessed with a full and rapid recovery!!!

I also pray that she is able to travel to be with her sisters as they make their run to the National Championship!

Better to be blessed than lucky or good!!!

We are blessed with a very talented, strong, courageous, energetic, loving, and dedicated group of young women!

Go Huskies!!!

I mean, come on Blake, this was not a great post by you.

Hey...even Azzi will miss a free throw every once in a while!

I included both Amari and Piath later in the post. The first group...just an opinion...will be in the regular rotation.
Amari and Piath...it will depend on their growth...hope they join the rotation as well...and not for garbage minutes in routs.
Their enthusiasm on the bench...in and of itself...helps the team. Hoping for more from both.

The surgery is obviously why she wasn't on the team bus to Minneapolis. Wish she could fly out today, but I'm not sure that's wise medically.
Well, maybe Dorka could make the finals. Something else to play for

Anyone know if she hopes to play professionally? If yes and she's looking at the WNBA as opposed to Europe or Asia, then this is a really smart move.

Just speculating that had she planned on the WNBA draft, sporting a broken wrist would not enhance her prospects.

Beyond that, I think we had heard before the injury that she likely was coming back so this is welcome news but not a great surprise. She had a good career in the Big Ten but I think we all some real growth during her year at UConn. Another year of growth at Storrs can only help her eventual draft status.

Darrell, your thread title gave me some palpitations! I thought perhaps the team's docs had figured out a super cast she could wear and play in MSP!
Sometime back when she made the decision to come to UConn, she hinted that she wanted to be better prepared to play professionally, hopefully in the WNBA.

She does need to get stronger so the opposing bigs don't bounce her around (Geno pointed that out after she was injured along with the hope that she gets to play in the FF). Now she can do that.

Geno also said they are going to fly her into Minneapolis so she can be part of the FF experience.

It would be very hard to receive the genuine love and concern her teammates showed her at the time of her injury. They cried with and for her. Then they went out and won the game for her. How can you leave them when you can come back for another year, and ...........they want and need you back? You can't.
dorka's message should be a permanent addition to the uconn huskies' recruiting brochure.

any kid who is struggling with the question 'should i commit to uconn?' might find it helpful, one way or the other

TRY???

there are no flights to minny?

try? it should be a given.
It likely also depends on how she feels. If she's not feeling physically up to it 48 hours post-surgery, then it may not make sense to get her there.

I hope she is, but I'm sure they are making sure she's comfortable and feeling up to it.
