number of teams from ACC should make the NCAA tournament this year.
She brought up the year that the OBE had the record number.
He said that the ACC this year is stronger than the BE that year.
If memory serves me right - it was 2011 and there were 11 teams from the BE
My last look says the ACC this year MAY get 8 in
Not sure what K is smoking

He's smoking "the ACC presidents and ADs collectively moved to destroy the old Big East, so as long as they are gone we are now the best that ever was and is" stuff, must be nice too sitting here in the AAC.

Weren't we the only team out of the 11 to make it through the first weekend?

Marquette made it to the Sweet 16

In said round:
3 ACC (UNCheat, Puke, FSU)
2 BE (UConn, Marquette)
2 B1G (OSU, Wisc)
2 SEC (UK, Florida)
2 MWC (SDSU, BYU)
2 A10 (VCU, Richmond)
1 Pac 12 (AZ)
1 Big 12 (KU)
Whatever conference Butler was in at the time

Elite Eight, each conference was down to 1 team or fewer except SEC with UK and Florida

Keep in mind we had to eliminate two of our own in that first week: we beat Cinci in the round of 32 and Marquette beat Cuse. No other conference faced itself once the entire tournament. So theoretically speaking we could have had 4 make it to the second weekend.

The big chokers were Louisville and, go figure, Georgetown, St Johns, and Notre Dame

Are people really still surprised that coaches in a conference say outrageously positive things about that conference? Coach K thinks this ACC is the best conference ever. Jay Wright thinks this is the best Big East ever. If you asked Kevin Ollie he would say our conference is great.

There is nothing to gain by being honest or realistic.

the question should be, if the Be was still together would it be better than the ACC this year?

Likely NCAAT teams:
Nova - UNC
WVU - Miami
PC - UVA
ND - ND
UConn - Duke
UL - UL - BANNED
Cuse - Cuse

Bubble teams:
Seton Hall - Clemson
Cincy
Pitt - Pitt
Marquette - FSU

OOT:
Georgetown - VTech
USF - GTech
UCF - NCSt
Rutgers - Wake Forest
DePaul - BC
SJU

You can maybe argue bubble versus likely in tournament for Cuse, UConn and ND. And Marquette/FSU are likely closer to OOT than bubble but neither deserves to be with the dreck below.

Also, UNC may be the best team and Nova a sham but they are #1 right now. So I guess you could call them equivalent right now. The biggest advantage is actually the PC - UVA comparison, though that would have been hotly debated just two weeks ago.

Has an ACC coach ever admitted the Big East was better? Its like asking a Confederate soldier if he prefers Jefferson Davis or Abraham Lincoln.

The ACC is 4-4 against the current Big East (granted, small sample, but their non-conference RPI's are separated by less than a hundredth of a point).

Additionally, the ACC is only third in conference RPI, behind the Big 12 and PAC 12. The Big East ranked first in the year being referred to - Big East teams won almost 80% of their non-conference games that season.

The conference is almost made up of entirely old big east teams. The reason the acc poached the big east schools has nothing to with football but everything to do with basketball. They hated all the love and dominance the big east had.

The Big East also had two teams that didn't lose to a non-Big East team all season.

Interesting world you two live in. What do you think Kevin Ollie would say if asked about the strength of our conference?

he'd plead the fifth.

Yes, but I mean in real life where adult D1 basketball coaches have to answer questions and can't do that.

Just in case you didn't notice it would seem many of us live in an interesting world just some not quite as interesting as others.

But agree KO would have Us, Temple, Tulsa and Cincy in if asked which is actually more than we will get for sure.
