It is vitally important that the team not read their clippings and believe them! I suspect Geno is an expert in puncturing overinflated balloons.Did she watch the Michigan game? This team isn't invincible.
Could go undefeated. But not a foregone conclusion.
The Michigan game is the one that really shows how good UConn is. They weathered a storm. This is key. If they went through the regular season coasting to easy victories, they’d be ripe for an upset.Did she watch the Michigan game? This team isn't invincible.

All the Michigan game demonstrated is that any team, even one as talented as UConn across the board, can have everyone go cold at once. What was surprising was the length of the drought. Michigan got hot, but the game would have continued to be a blow-out all things being equal. Hope we play them again.Did she watch the Michigan game? This team isn't invincible.

Yes, I was on the floor. KK's eyes are just scary. She is actually smiling at the dribbler in a very intimidating way. Plus, they are all truly ripped and very big. Blanca is a remarkably sculpted athlete who is just menacing. I can't believe we have her for 3 more years.Sat next to a USF fan for most of the game. 4 rows from the court.
She commented how "ripped" the UConn players are along with their team speed and height.
The eyes of UConn players on defense is scary. Very intense.
And the key to the Michigan game is, what did UConn learn? Geno is the best in the business at taking a close call or a loss (see: Tennessee last season), finding the weak spots in his team, and correcting them. This game was early in the season, which is good because they're able to work on things for longer, bad because they have a chance to forget where they went wrong. 😜The Michigan game is the one that really shows how good UConn is. I can't wait for Kelis to truly get up to speed on defense, with her quickness, long arms and doggednessYes, I was on the floor. KK's eyes are just scary. She is also very athletic, strong, long, coordinated and like Blanca is not self conscious at all. She and Blanca are both muscularly developed beyond their years. Both have drive moves that are almost impossible to stop when they get the first steps . Only thing that can is a charge from another player.I can't wait for Kelis to truly get up to speed on defense, with her quickness, long arms and doggedness
I’ve been hoping that someone would appease the gods before we went beyond the point of no returnThanks Nan for appeasing the MOJO Gods.
Memory being what it is I may be mistaken, but I am like 97.5% confident that we were the national champions last year. Like a good 97.5% confident. If we’re talking about last year’s F4 team, that’s nuts and an insult to that team
That was shorthand for “the team that bulldozed its way through the final four.” Point being that by the end of the season they were pretty epic.Memory being what it is I may be mistaken, but I am like 97.5% confident that we were the national champions last year. Like a good 97.5% confident.
Oh, we looked very good last year. The scary thought is we may be even better this year even though we are without Paige. That was shorthand for “the team that bulldozed its way through the final four.” Point being that by the end of the season they were pretty epic.
I could be wrong, but I don't remember any UConn team blowing away the best teams in the country like UConn did in the final 4 for the NC. So, this year's team has a pretty high bar to jump before it's fair to say they are better than last year's team. Not impossible, but the jury won't reconvene until April. That was shorthand for “the team that bulldozed its way through the final four.” Point being that by the end of the season they were pretty epic.
They set a record for the largest combined margin of victory in the Final Four for women. Ask yourself why? Defense, Defense, Defense. Can't argue with that. They get it. What's amazing is a group of high school scoring stars focusing so intently on defense. That's coaching. It matters to some degree, doesn't it? i don't mean to start a fight but do you and most people on here think that the reg season is "more-or-less who cares?" Then in my view that's wrong - at least for me. .Note I didn't say you said that. I used the "if." Anyhow, for example, who was the greatest freshman just between these 4; Diana, Maya, Breanna, and Paige?Drives me a little crazy when folks talk about the team being or not being better than last year’s team without clarifying.
If we’re talking about last year’s F4 team, that’s nuts and an insult to that team. If you watched the F4, how can you say that this team is better?
If you’re talking about last year’s pre Tennessee team, then yes, but who cares?
Yes exactly. The point is that we all know that teams change, improve, or sometimes get worse in the course of a season due to getting healthy, getting injuries, being fatigued or getting better and for a myriad other reasons. I think it is very fair and instructive to compare apples to apples, that is comparing teams at the same time of year. The opposing coaches have talked about how we are now and using that comparison to last year. They have been very clear that they think this team is better. I do not agree that right now we are as good as last year in March since we had Paige. However, I do agree that the team defense now is better than it was last year at this time. The team is deeper, we added Blanca, K9 and Serah. We have an improved Allie, Kelis, a better defensive Azzi and Sarah and Ash. Will the team in March be better defensively than last March's team? Will it be better offensively? I actually think both but that is why I am a fan and flew down to Tampa and sat courtside so I could see for myself. I obviously liked what I saw...a lot.It matters to some degree, doesn't it? i don't mean to start a fight but do you and most people on here think that the reg season is "more-or-less who cares?" We do compressions often on many things. Such as "Players on Mt Rushmore" "best teams ever, Best UCONN player ever. Best UCONN player vs other teams. player as to who is greatest. Even UCONN does it by choosing the criteria to put a player on the Wall. They "compare" by using specific criteria. After all, sports is competition.
Last year's team was definitely the best performance for any UCONN team ever going by points won, but then we can get into how was the competition vs the other teams etc. Lastyears South Car team asn't as good as the prior years past teams. For me, am I wrong to believe that teams that from UCONN went undefeated that didn't have even one letdown the entire season couldn't be considered greater than last year’s team? It's nto wrong to put perfection/no letdown as impotant, is it? Last year's team was great great great. They became great once they got healthy, they had a high floor on Defense, and their 3 number 1 H/s ranked players definitely overall as a core 3, played like their past number 1 status..
IMO there is no way to duplicate last year's FF dominance. But if they even lose the last game by 1 point and going through that point undefeated in which we saw Azzi a whole year play awesome, saw Sraah do things we're still amazed at, saw the many different beech players rise, and saw someone like Blanca grow into something sensational, but we just had that 1 bad game, would it be "who cares?"
Fans tend to, since their primary occupation is to speculate on possibilities before they unfold. This isn’t a science experiment, after all.If you’re talking about last year’s pre Tennessee team, then yes, but who cares?
