What dusty old skeleton will Pasqualoni come up with to be the DC. There is absolutely no chance UConn will be able to get a person with any decent background. This could potentially (hopefully?) be a one year job as the whole staff could be gone with one more bad year.

No one of quality would be willing to take the job given the reality that it is probably just a one year position until PP is gone (barring a miracle). Realistically, I expect Hank Hughes to get the DC job back.

Looks like i picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines.....

So if I have this correct, Don Brown took a promotion to a lateral position at BCU. Where is the bottom of this spiral?

Best case scenario is that Hank Hughes gets the job... that's what I'm hoping for... the thought of him highering outside scares the bajeezus out of me.

I need to find a new team to cheer for. This gets worse with every week.
Looks like we're digressing guys... Back to the late 80's early 90's style of football... only difference is these guys are way more mature as a unit. The kids back then liked to get drunk and beat up on people in front of everybody....

WE WAITED TOO FRIGGIN LONG TO MOVE ON COACHING ASSISTANTS. When Coach P was interviewed a few weeks back after we got stomped by Cincy he said the main focus was rercruiting to close up this class THEN address the coaching situation... Huh? I thought Stability works its way from the top down. Did I miss something? I'm pissed. What do we do now? We're gonna lose some recruits because some of them are coming because of him.

Awful job by the folks running the ship, just awful...

We've had very good defenses befroe Don Brown and I suspect we'll continue to have good defenses after Brown. His was good but let's not over-rate things. They were terrible in the red zone. Might be hard to get there, but once you did, they rarely stopped anyone. they didn't get turnovers, either fumble recoveries or interceptions despite having two potential pros in the d backfield. What was that about? and they gave up too many big pass plays. again, Brown's defenses were good, but the idea that he is irreplaceable is just a little crazy. Had our offense not been so disfunctional, I suspect his limitations and weaknesses would have been more clear. But in comparison to the offense, it they weren't too obvious.

What's the difference between then and now?

Unemployed, no?

Where's Todd Orlando working right now?

He is still officially on the staff at FIU, but I would think that once FIU hires a new head coach, he will be gone. However, I doubt there is mutual interest between him and UConn at this point.

?Still on FIU staff as DC till they hire new HC (haven't heard his name mentioned) but absofluckinlutley... but better move fast though - From TAMU fanboard:

"So I was just slumming over at the Tech site to see what was going on with their DC (officially gone today) and I saw somebody throw out FIU's Todd Orlando as a suggestion. I have to say, it looks to me they -- or us -- could do a lot worse. He's a young guy that has really delivered. He had great success making UCONN a top 10 defense for a number of years and then moved to FIU after Randy Edsall left for Maryland. In his first season, he took FIU from #65 in scoring D to #16 this year. Total D went from #61 to #32. I think Sumlin is probably done or close to it, but somebody could help their career by hiring this guy."

I can understand why there might not be interest on his part.....but why in the world would there be no interest on our end?

Do I need a ruling from BL before bitching about this? Is there a line?

This sucks. I don't know if your post was serious or not, but there is a difference between stating that something sucks and going all TDH on us where you repeat the point ten zillion times in every thread whether related to your point or not.

Todd Orlando absolutely should be on our list, but it's not likely for two reasons. First, while he was DC here, he wasn't fully DC in that he reported to Hank Hughes and Hughes had the ultimate say as I understand it, and with Hank still here I'm sure he'd prefer a job where that isn't how it worked (now, that one P could satisfy). More importantly, however, being hired by UConn is clearly a one year gig now, as anyone with a view to the program has to assume that after next year P will be gone.

Gotta agree with you here. Stats were like A-Rod stats prior to the late innings. Seemed that they couldn't get the stops when needed or a turnover (ever) when needed. Would like replacement to have the aggressive approach as well, though.

We'll be fine ... we have the former DC of the Dallas Cowboys on our coaching roster ... what more could anyone possibly need?

Did not know about the Hughes dynamic but agree with your second reason. That's why when the decision was made to bring P back you might as well leave GDL where he is so they both go down with the ship after next year. There's not a competent OC/DC who would take this job right now. That's why they probably should just promote Hughes.

IMO, there are plenty of young, displaced, "competent" DC out there due to all the coaching changes that took place that would take a one year job... whether it happens is another story.

This board has become toxic...full of dramatic attention seeking divas. Most of you have lost faith and perspective. I'm sure Coach P is on the phone with Rich Kotite as we speak. NFL experience AND he's gotta be nearly 70 years old. Some matches are just made in heaven.

I wish I could drink at work.

After reading this line I can't get "Rich Kotite, Rich Kotite, Roch Kotite" to stop playing in my cursed brain.

edit: I just read the post before mine and that his name occurred to anyone else is really frightening the bejesus out of me

More gallows humor than anything else.

That would be the final nail....yet, it feels right.

Tony Orlando might be a step up - as AD.

(Sorry, I don't have the energy to post a picture.)
