And men's basketball could be labelled freshmen basketball, especially Kentucky.

1. Despite the misperception that might prompt you to label men's basketball as you did, why is it a problem? Athletes in other sports leave early or never go to college at all. Why insist on athletes going to college? It is obvious that many are not adequately prepared for the rigors of college academics; Many of whom are the very ones that have, over the years, made UConn the center of the college basketball universe when conjoined with the success of the women's program.
2. Have there not been as many athletes leave UConn after one or two years as have left other programs?
3. Why single out Kentucky, a program that this year has four freshman two of whom are starters?
4. And why single out a program as successful as Kentucky?
5. Why not single out Duke who also have four starters of whom three start for Coach K?
6. If staying in school and gaining more experience was so valuable, how is it that a number of programs offering substantial minutes to more recently arrived underclassmen are enjoying a high level of success?

All this said, it would be nice if more college athletes spent more time enriching their young minds with the vast array of knowledge, education, and experience available in the enriched learning environment of a college campus. The reality is that scholarship athletes are not on campus to pursue an education. Their primary mission is to play the sport for which they are receiving aid. Some sports require a higher commitment to their athletic endeavors than others at the expense of academics. Those that are prepared and academically motivated often still have to pursue a less demanding academic workload so as to fulfill their scholarship obligations. Every undergraduate is not Emeka Okafor.

The only way this will change is for more people to watch WBB. There are a lot of sexist men out there who think it is beneath them to watch WBB. More than half the population is female, so if women would support women's sports in large numbers, this would all change.

It looks like ESPN has changed the "Other Sports" option on their navigation bar, where you have to go to find WBB to just "Sports". As before, all the sports, including the major sports listed on the navigation bar, and the others like WBB where you have to search the list, are in this list under "Sports".

Small steps, but you wonder if someone there might be taking a peek at the BY

ESPN switched from NCAAB to NCAAM for men's basketball a few years ago. It wasn't an accident.

OK today the main ESPN.com page has "NCAAW" on the main navigation bar, right next to "NCAAM", so you no longer have to go to "Sports" (formerly "More Sports") for the auxiliary list. Don't know if this just has to do with it being tourney time, but don't remember that happening in prior years, so I suspect that ZLS fixed it permanently (thanks!).

ESPN changes its site based on the time of year. It's all about usability and not about Boneyarders complaining.

That when you scroll the TV guides that men's bball is called "College Basketball" yet the women's games are called "Women's Basketball" as if they are not "really college basketball"...

Why not call them "Men's College Basketball" and "Women's College Basketball" and be done with it..or NCAAM basketball and NCAAW basketball....

Could peeves this simple be why you are a bachelor? Just kidding not killing here. Anyone around since Geno first came in will remember this being the first spitting match between Jim and Geno. That being the signage at the facilities being that of only UCONN Basketball and nothing to do with the woman. (Offices etc.)

It is the same with tennis, hockey or golf listings, I have no problem with it. A lot may have to do with the actual name of the sport being separated. If you follow you will notice baseball and softball have separate listings.

It must really frost your cookies when our 9 time NC coach constantly refers to his team in interviews as the guys. :D

What bothers me is watching a game tonight and hearing one team called the "Lady Grizzlies." Just sounds like a horror flic, or a bad nightmare for me in a few hours.

During the Princeton/USF game it will be interesting to see if
someone refers to the Lady Bulls.

At least Fairfield's season is done, so we don't have to worry
about hearing Lady Stags.
