Do your actually want the team to win?

There's a bigger issue here. Is it just me, or has the country generally been taken by a virus of negativism? Seems like everybody has an opinion about everything (rarely factually-based) and that everyone else is an idiot. I sense a long-term problem with this.

Someone please tell me I just see more random dolts...

It’s kinda like the Walking Dead and beer is the virus. Some of us are immune and some, well....

It's the internet/social media age. Brings out everyone's inner douchenozzle.

I actually didn’t have any morans near me and that was the most fun I’ve had at a game I think since Edsall 1.0

It was a total circus on the concourse though - sun + homecoming = drunks.

I want this program to win every game. I always have and always will. I even was complimented (not sure how else to say it) by a coworker for continuing to care and cheer for a team that "is basically irrelevant." I will never give up on this program or the kids on the field or the coaches/kids on the sideline. I was very proud of their effort today. VERY PROUD. I thought the defense really stepped up. 3rd down is still an iffy subject, especially in the first half, but the offense came out guns blazing in the 3rd quarter. Defense collapsed in the last half of the 4th quarter. Penalties didn't help either. But I was happy with what (little, thanks to work) I did see.

I had drunks down in front of me cheering and screaming when UConn was on offense which doesn't help and others around him were trying to quiet him down, without much in a way of results.

Fans sitting on their hands and leaving early just drives me nuts. Don't get me on to the student section which used to be a strong point and now is empty by the 3rd quarter

A couple more wins this year and I don't think the student section will be a problem anymore.

People show up late cuz they need that last beer at the tailgate, then leave early when it's an actual good game. These people are only there to say that they're there and get drunk.

It starts at the top of the house, unfortunately.

But t least they are there. Once HCRE gets the team rocking they will stay, especially if that is the socially acceptable behavior.

I am ecstatic about the progress I have seen, especially defensively, from game 5 to game 7. Let's keep this going!! I think the team looked great today. Not the most stellar first half. There were some flashes but the defense stood its ground and applied a TON of pressure.

Only on the Boneyard will you find a thread complaining about the fans after a really nice win by the team.

The ideal fan in the eyes of a yarder:
Arrives to the lot early wearing the block C from head to toe
Turkey and ketchup tail gate
Drink 3.5 beers
100% submissive during full body cavity search
Gets to their seat early
Slowly nurses one last beer in their seat
Applauds gentlemanly when we score
Stands on 3rd down defensive stands only
Stays 15 min after the game ends to take in the great winning tradition
Hits the packy on the way home to get proper drunk before having to deal with the wife and kids again.

This is very false.

I actually agree with you. It was simply a smart alec retort to the comment I was replying to, which is also very false, but in no means meant to be takin completely seriously. My confidence in the BY is not high, however I feel a few will get the point of my original statement.

Hah, could your shirtless friend be worse than so many of the all-knowing game thread negatoids? ;)
Ah, the negatoid police. Isn't it time for you to go back to Catalunya and root for Barca instead? I hear Estadio Nou Camp is nice this time of year.

Stop being shocked people like beer and partying better than mediocre college football. This isn’t SEC country and outside of the weirdos on this board most couldn’t care less about the outcome and would rather have a good time on a Saturday

That's fine.

So long as that group of folks never complain about not landing great recruits and not winning more football games. Because, in a weird twist of fate, great high school players tend to choose NOT to play in front of 1/4 full stadiums that don't cheer and don't seem to care about the final outcome of the game. What I'm guessing is that the group of folks we are talking about are actually the same group doing the complaining. Ironic, that they may be a large part of the issue that they so often moan about...

Then go to your local bar and drink yourself to death. Save yourself $ on tickets, parking etc, think how many beers that$ will buy!

At least there you will probably be among "likeminded friends" unlike at the game and on this board.

I kept telling my son they were holding it backwards. They were probably too lit to know the difference anyways... (syob eht rof era syadrutaS)
Dan, you're in 241 too?

People are probably getting lit at the tailgate parties, not in the stadium.

Agreed. It's hard to get lit in the stadium at $9 a pop.

Does anyone know if any part of that $9 goes to the school (or some other charity)? If not, talk about "highway robbery"...
