Of course you say chocolate chip now. Then after a week or so when you get one chocolate chip cookie that crumbles, it will be Oatmeal Raisin. You will drone on and on of the virtues of the combination of oatmeal and raisin as if there could be no other cookie. And then the Snickerdoodle will come along. And you will forget all about your first love, the Chocolate Chip cookie.

And we will be subject to all of it.........

Oatmeal raisin is an outstanding cookie.

Cookies is a good thread topic. Dont know why I never posted it. (I rarely post threads....)

@HW611 will say the best cookies are the ones that develop flavor over time. Like a shortbread (very underrated)

@willie99 thinks all cookies have their merit.

@Hans Sprungfeld will tell us that originally it was actually spelled "cooky" , with a "y"

and @superjohn thinks none of us would know a good cookie if it hit us in the face.

Do I deserve a championship? Not really. But I do want their season to go on as long as possible. As a Mets and Jets fan, I usually can't wait for the next UConn season to begin.
Nothing beats chocolate chip.

My view is you kind of want to meet expectations - play to your seed, your preseason rank, without oversetting so that you end up collapsing when it doesn't happen. You want to stay relevant on the national stage, for recruiting and juice. To me, that's an Elite 8. You don't want to lose to a lower seeded team. We find a way to the F4, that is gravy.

I don't eat cookies, they're for fats with no self control.

I think I always deserve to be a winner but this was a tough choice. If we get spanked by Duke that might be the motivation we need to turn things around. So I’ll go with losing would be for the greater good.
  • No, I have been tough on the team and neither me or the team deserves winning

While I think this team does deserve more support than it’s getting I think there are a couple reasons why the enthusiasm has waned this year despite such a great record.

1) So much of the Marquee games were at the beginning of the year. I think after playing such hyped teams, the thought of playing mediocre Big East teams was just not exciting. So the narrative became if we don’t destroy everyone by 20+ we are failing.

2) Dan admitted he created this monster. With the program and fan base not accepting anything less than championships, our expectations are just unrealistic, leading to a lot of disappointment. Even the best programs go several years between championships. With Nil and transfer rules everyone thinks you can just buy championships every year. That’s just not realistic (see Kentucky). We need to step back and enjoy just what a great run this has been without looking at things in a total success or total failure viewpoint.

3) Predictive metric have taken some of the fun out of the sport. Everyone is so focused on Kenpom and Net and all the other predictive data that even wins feel like losses when it doesn’t move you up in the metrics. We are starting to analyze so much data that the results seem like a forgone conclusion. It feels like UConn has already lost the tourney because it doesn’t meet the metrics criteria for a champion.

4) It’s becoming a power 3 sport. The Big East gets no respect. The sport only really cares about the Big 10, 12, and SEC. Fortunately we are one of the biggest Brands in basketball but it stinks when you feel like the majority of home and away games are trap games. The Big East has to make some waves quick. It feels like they’ve given up at trying to have a seat at the table and the rest of college sports doesn’t seem to want them there.

That being said, overall I think this team is more talented than 2011 and 14. So there is always a chance we “shock the world”. That’s what we do best.

Well said. Is it because we got spoiled by the dominance of the 24 team?
No. It’s because we don’t look as good as our record would indicate. We also look worse than we did early in the season. I find watching this team hard to enjoy because I know we can’t get to the rim and that we can’t inbound or handle the ball.

We will need to flip some switch that I’m not sure exists to get to the FF. However, I 100% believe we can do it. I am way more confident this team can get there than I was that 2014 could. I believe in this team the same way I did in 2011. I don’t know how, but I know we can do it.

1) Peanut butter cookies
2) Oatmeal Raison
3) Pecan Sandies

This year feels like 2006 to me, except not quite as bad. We were a far more talented team that year and it felt like grinding (without chemistry) almost every game, and the tournament was no better. Then, the season was capped off by a loss to George Mason preventing another F4.

Still makes me angry 20 years later.

This is where we settle the score for 2006.

The path in 2006: Philadelphia, then DC, final four in Indianapolis.

There are possibilities for a handful of payback games in the mix as well. We need this to be part of the motivation.
