I meant emo... As in if you need a molly to enjoy life you must be emo. But then again, what do I know, I work at a computer all day...

Last time I checked UConn has a marching band. Unsure why we need a dj.
You know you're getting older when you think silver sousaphones rock better than a DJ named Joey.

The gameday experience definitely needs to change and the turning off DJ Joey's mic is a good start. "C'mon y'all, make some noise!" Nothing sounds more desperate and pathetic than a guy with a mic screaming at a crowd to make some noise. It takes away from the game experience. Hearing the crowd noise build in pivotal moments is part of the experience...not some chump in a box screaming like he's at the Jersey Shore.

I'm just looking for a little more variety from the DJ. GnR on every third down gets tiresome especially when you sometimes only hear it for less then 5 seconds.

I'm convinced that there are too many people in the stands that are Pavlov dogged to GnR. The socialities who don't pay close attention to the game won't know when to turn their attention to the field and make some sort of noise if it doesn't play. My dream is that the new scoreboard and ribbon boards will help encourage fan participation on ALL downs. Wow, there's a concept.

I don't like dj Joey. But I love the yarder that logs in as him and sends out his game day message. Classic comedy.

Sup?

He wears game-cut jerseys. I have to give him some respect just for that.

I'll bring the beach ball if all the girls show up in their sports bras and bikini briefs.

DJ Joey is not my preference but he's doing his job and gets the crowd going. Only time the fans stand is when he does his thing and/or GnR plays. I got tired of being bitched at for standing for big time college football so every year now I get the last row in Section 127 so no one can complain! Need more people standing up. Slayer Raining Blood / Angel of Death are in order...

Nothing worse than some blue hair behind me asking me to sit down.

We are last row in section 139 and won't ever move out of that location for this very reason. We stand the entire game and encourage the rows in front of us to do the same.

I've never noticed the crowd getting pumped up by DJ Joey. It is an embarrassment. Let the crowd get themselves pumped up like they did the first few years in The Rent.

I don't mind people standing up for a kick-off, a big third and one play, etc., in fact I'm the first one up for those. However, if you want to stand for the whole game, do it on the concourse somewhere. It is foolish, rude, and obnoxious to block the view of others for the entire game.

Precisely why I love the last row: nobody behind me to tell me to sit down! If stragglers standing behind me complain about blocking their view, they are either way too short to be riding this ride or way too stupid to move 5 feet over to the right/left.

I will never forget the Big House. They stood the entire game, made noise on all downs, and only sat down during TV timeouts or intermissions. I wish/hope that one day our stadium gets to that point. Although it probably won't happen until I am old and watching from home!

They stand because there is no room to sit :) Most uncomfortable stadium I've ever been in (but an experience I won't forget).

True. Reminded me of old Foxboro Stadium. I think they gave each seat 6 inches...just enough for one cheek.

To me that is sophomoric. Kind of like the Pukies going polo in Cameron Indoor Stadium. If it becomes de riguer to just stand up the whole game and make noise, then it becomes pointless. In effect it is white noise. However, if the stadium erupts for the big plays it may cause an opponent to choke and our guys to get pumped up.

Agree to disagree. Gillette Stadium stands for "big" games and you have about 3 feet of space at your seat! To me, a unified standing stadium is more intimidating to an opponent than one that only stands for big plays. It shows the opponent that we aren't taking a play off, big or small, and are ready to erupt at a moment's notice. I also think that many fans are less engaged when sitting. Not to mention, it's a great way to burn off those tailgating calories to keep fit!

Bottom line is I dont' care if an enthusiastic fan is sitting or standing, as long as they are engaged and into the game. I like standing, you like sitting. To each is own.

I hear you, and since you sit in the last row, you won't have to worry about me telling you to stf down.

This is a pretty simple argument. If the section stands you stand. If you and your friends are the only ones standing the whole time, you're being an ass to people behind you.

Don't be an ass.

I'd have to agree. I stand more than most (and would almost never tell someone to sit down) but there isn't really a reason to stand the entire game.

I was at that game too. We sat right in the middle of the Mich. fans, couldn't see any UCONN fans except up in the nosebleed section and they were the only ones standing. No one was standing where we sat, I think they were afraid to stand because the might lose their spot when they went to sit. Yes it was that tight.

Not always - my two teenage boys (15 and 17) think he's "lame". "Music isn't bad - he is"
every single brother in my fraternity thinks he's awful, as does most of the student body

I think it's hard to stand, when there's constant first down runs up the middle. I think the lack of big plays/excitement from the offense delegates the amount of standing you do. Of course 3rd downs on d or goaline defense you stand. Also if your going to stand for the whole game, might as well walk over to the beer tent and get the people behind you some beers for staring at your ass all day : )

Smh. Standing does nothing ... being loud does. If your section stands, great. Stand and be loud. If not, sit and be loud until it's time to stand and be loud. It's not about you.

Rookies.
