Did Rutgers REALLY lose to Seton Hall today?

That would be a terrible choice. Law has failed badly as HC at Illinois already.
Short memories and strong ties. Is that not Law I see sitting on the bench at national powerhouse Lady Vols? I do not think CD would be up to the challenge of rebuilding the BB culture at Rutgers. J Laws best days are ahead, C Viv's may be history.

Man, they're not even the jewel of Rahway this year.

Man, when was the last time CViv raised the roof after a game? The time to do so is now because the house she built is crumbling...err...has crumbled.

I wonder how CD feels about Rutgers - I think she was pretty angry the last time around and they might have burned that bridge for her.
She is also only leaving for the 'perfect' situation (per her comments on the last Geno Show) and I wonder if when it comes down to it, any coaching offer anywhere would live up to her standards of 'perfect'.

I have no reason to think that CD "dislikes" Rutgers in the sense that - for that reason - she would be disinterested. I suspect to attract her planned upgrades to facilities are a must - RU facilities for a program that (due to the coach) attracts top level recruits - are not competative. Remember, anyone involved with "passing over" her in (almost) 20 years ago are long gone. Heck, the AD then was at RU when she played (not necessarily the AD). Also, the older (and diminishing) fans certainly remember, admire and cheer her. The rest probably don't really know she played at RU.

I wonder if her family is still in the area - back about 7 years ago, saw her shopping in a grocery store near RU (she was in UConn sweats and no-one recognized her, FWIW). Had we seen her again in another aisle, we would have said hello, but only saw her the once and she was busy so we didn't want to interrupt even to say hello and congrats on the NC UConn was coming off of that year.

Also FWIW, I was reading the program that is handed out free at the games and noted that there is no mention of Rutgers, or her championship there, or that she is in their HOF. That bridge seems to have been taken off the map, at least for now...

I believe CD's mother and other family members still live in or around New Brunswick.

True. But _if_ she ever wants to be a head coach, her window is closing.

She can stay at UConn and coach against Tulane and ECU...or go to the Big Ten.

It has to be a factor.

In women's bb, the Big 10 pretty much sucks.

In the short interview on the Geno Show she said that as a younger coach she obviously thought about and expected to take the next step of becoming a head coach, but in recent years she has realized how much she enjoys her current position and that it would have to be a perfect opportunity for her to make a move. That is a poor paraphrase but the basic idea, so I think being a HC is not a driving ambition for her now.
Interestingly, that is sort of what Geno has said about taking a men's job - he used to think about it a lot, but at this point he sees the advantages of his current job and the joy he takes in it. (Except he said being an NBA assistant has to be the best job in the world - no responsibility! )

Kim b-apricot? You're some kind of a peach calling her that.

And Matt Bollant is off to a good start at IL, too.

With their talent it is unfathomable that they could loose like this! What the hell are CV and her staff teaching these high level players? This has been going on for years now.
What is (to me, at least) unfathomable is how CViv keeps recruiting all these really good players. Can't any of these kids see what has happened to the previous really good players that she has recruited and then not only failed to improve but in many cases actually more-or-less ruined? It is a puzzlement!!

Rather a strange start too. In their Big 10 games, Illinois has won all 4 of their
road games and lost all 3 of their home games.
