how well the subs ran the offense last night during the last 4 minutes. The flow was excellent, the picks and screens crisp, and the passing solid. The best they have looked all year.

MS Banks looked positively dangerous with her moves to the hoop.
Yes, and it was within the offensive structure. Brianna has made some big strides.

Hmmm. They scored 3 points in the last four minutes, all by KML. I was not that impressed.

Makes you wonder why we have not seen more of her. She was Dixon fast, Renee with the moves, and very confident, took it straight to the hoop, more than once. Would love to see Banks, KLM, and Hayes combo against ND (Fast and offensive threats). Banks might even tire Skylar out....

Not talking about scoring I am talking about actually running the offense and executing it properly. Before they were not even doing that well. Instead play deteriorated into chaos, not so last night. It was a big step forward if for no other reason it means subs coming in from that group will not be lost on the floor and as likely to be disruptive if subbing with the main rotation.

Shots go up and they will fall or not....the OP was about how well they ran the offense. A solid offensive structure is so important, the shots will go in.

We were already up so much, it wasn't necessary that they all went in the hoop

Yes. We were saying the same thing at home. Of course, in our house they're the "young-uns".

I really liked how they maintained our big win in the score . . . that felt important last night:)

That one crossover where she split the two defenders was almost fantastic (she needed to finish) but the move was great. The one time earlier when she came down the left side I saw she had it set up and yelled "do it" and she did. Pulled a little hesitation and blew by for the layup.

Banks made a number of mental errors earlier in the game. She's got a lot of really tantalizing physical tools, but right now, she's part of the extended rotation with Buck (basically, she'll come in situationally). I think she'll be a bench player the next three years, but as she becomes more consistent and locked in to the "UConn way", she will see progressively more PT- the kind of player very few programs would have the luxury of bringing off the bench.

Brianna made a layup with 3:57 left in the game
Kaleena hit a free throw with 2:32 remaining
Kaleena hit a three with :33 left

Meanwhile, SJU had 5 points. 6-5 UConn in the last 3:57

Hmmm. You didn't get that the emphasis at that point was not to run up the score, but mostly to give the reserves some playing time?

Yes, and I also noticed that Engeln handled the ball without shooting. That too is progress.

There were a ton of positives buried in those final four minutes. Not perfect, but big steps forward.

Brianna was clearly the most athletic player at the end of the game. Her decision-making is still a work in progress. Part of the reason that they looked pretty good was that they had a good player and great scorer with them--KML. I think Tiff or even Kelly could fill the same role. One of the top 6 with 4 bench players can work Ok. A lineup with five bench players would lack leadership and scoring punch.
