Diaco’s defenses at UConn got worse each of the three years he was here as Pasqualoni’s recruits left the program.

His final defense allowed 411 yards a game. This year’s bad defense allowed 467.. a big difference but not light years and I have more faith in the talent on the roster leading to further gains than I did by the end of Diaco’s tenure when it seemed clear that trend would continue if a change wasn’t made.

the difference between 467 yards per game and 411 would be the difference in ranking 81st in the country and 116th (based on this years stats). As for points allowed, it went from 28 points per game in Diaco’s last year to over 40 points per game this year. That’s a change from 65th best scoring defense to128th best scoring defense (Out of 130 total teams). That seems significant.
