What's Fish going to do when Anthony starts turning him out? Though the Knicks really need to learn to play defense. They don't have too many players who want to play defense. Only Chandler & Shumpert seem interested in defense... and maybe Kenyon when not hurt (but his best days are long gone).

I like Fisher, and Phil is Phil, but until they dump Anthony and Stat, none of this really matters. IMO

Its the Knicks, and thats all you need to say, no need to even explain anything. Thank god I'm a Uconn fan.

Let's be honest, Fisher will be the new Spoelstra. He's just a figurehead for the legend, who I would bet won't really have the responsibilities of a coach outside of the in-game stuff.

It's a "meh" hire.

That swing-and-a-miss on Steve Kerr really hurt the Knicks. I really think he could've helped Phil get that franchise pointed in the right direction.

Wow.. Spoelstra is a lot more than a figurehead.. he consults with Pat Riley, who wouldn't? But Riley isn't running the show, other than personnel. Spoelstra has been in that organization for almost 20 years. He knows everything there is to know about Miami Heat basketball and he's the one who pretty much re-vamped their offense from 2011 (when it was pretty much Wade and LeBron taking turns with iso sets) to what it is now.. the hardest to defend offense in the league.

Lebron is running the show. They have the hardest to defend offense because they have Lebron, Wade, Bosh, Allen and other three point shooters.

I can sincerely say that I have no clue what-so-ever how good a coach Spoelstra is. I do think Fisher can be at least as good though.

So I have absolutely no idea how good chocolate tastes, and I've never even seen vanilla, but I do think that it can be at least as good.

Do you see the holes here?

Yes, I do. The post wasn't in any way meant as a logical argument.

So your basketball intuition (lol) is just telling you this with absolutely nothing to back it up? C'mon man, we're supposed to have conversations here, not just toss out baseless prognostic statements at each other.

My bad, forgot the 'Yard was all about serious deliberation of fact and consequence.

Kerr has front office experience. He's still young, but he's old enough and has separated himself from his playing career enough that he'll have no trouble gaining universal respect from his players. He has championship experience. He has experience working with Phil Jackson. He's charismatic.

Aside from that, he was Phil's first choice. Missing out on him when he was made their primary target was flat out embarrassing for the Knicks and a bad first step for Phil.

besides the FO experience and separation from his playing career(it doesn't matter imo) DFish has the same qualities and he was the president of the players's union so he's already been in an off the court leadership position. I get the striking out on the first choice thing, but I don't see how Kerr is any better candidate than Fish, what does being a GM have to do with being a great coach, they're different responsibilities(I would say the same for the going in the opposite direction as well). McHale was a GM too and I don't see anyone touting him as a great coach. I don't really favor one over the other and I'm very interested in seeing how they do, but they basically bring the same positives and negatives to the job, Kerr will probably do better since he has a much better roster tho.

Uh yeah, rational adults tend to use evidence, fact, or at least logic to support the opinions they have. Children just spout things off and go "Derp I dunno, I said it just because!"

Did you get lost or something and wander into the Boneyard looking for place of serious objective fandom without speculation or a sense of humor? You don't seem to be too quick on the uptake so let me help you out, "My bad, forgot the 'Yard was all about serious deliberation of fact and consequence." = Not interested, go hump somebody else's leg. I'm sure you've heard that a million times.

If that was a display of your sense of humor, I dunno what to tell you. It certainly wasn't speculation.

Impressive press conference, the guy is articulate well spoken seems KO like actually. Said he was never the best player but only hard work kept him in the league 18 years. Sound familiar?

good hire for the situation the Knicks are in. On the job training from the best and has 5 rings running an offense that will be the system that is run in NY. As long as Dolan is there I won't hold my breath for anything else right now.

You do realize that Fisher is the same kind of journeyman NBA player that Ollie was, right ? That he is a point guard who isn't particularly big, strong, fast, quick, or athletic. The he made a very long NBA career out of knowing the offense, knowing the opposition, and mastering spacing, etc. Pretty much exactly like Ollie. With nearly as much coaching experience as Ollie.

And he works for perhaps the greatest coach in the history of pro basketball.
