Still, nice offensive game by Stewart and Ball, and Reed seems back to his old self. Mahaney showing signs of life as well. Good effort on the FT's... Oh... and is this the first game in a while where we fouled less than the opponent (15 vs. 20)?

Going to continue to push to give more responsibility to our more talented players. We turned it up a notch once we turned the game over to Solo, Stewart, and Reed in the second half.

That was just ugly in every facet. That’s 3 dreadful games in his last 4 for AK. 1/14 from the field. We’re not going anywhere with him playing like this. We lose this game against almost any other halfway decent team. That’s how bad DePaul is.

My first half rant​

Stop telegraphing and forcing passes Mahaney!
“It’s a back screen. Guard to guard. Just switch it!”
Stop jumping on defense Ross! Stop JUMPING!!!!! Especially for a backup center that Reed was handling well that you decided to jump on and foul.
Stewart and Alex seem to be getting worse every game. Reed too. Jaylen why did you dribble instead of passing, get it stolen and then leave your man while he calmly and slowly hits a 3?
Why is Hass the only one shooting 3s? Where the hell are our awesome 3 point shooters that we heard about all summer? Shoot the damn ball!
You guys wanna play Duke? St. Johns? You will lose by 50 if you don’t get your #%$@%$ together!
Can anybody play basketball on this team? Anybody? You guys are waiting for a hobbled guy who is out of shape and out of practice to be the savior and save your season and that is your master plan?

My Second half rant​

Good start.
Put a body on Blocker. Allowing a putback?
Karaban 1 for 9 so far…all bunnies.
0.0000 post game. ZERO. And THAT’s why we have no open 3 point shooters.
Reed is an animal. Ok…we DO have some post game.
Reed! Ball!
Reed is a beast. He just tore the ball out of his hands!
Why didn’t you guys play like that in the first half?

I’m OK now. I’m OK…sort of.

For the old timers, this reminds a bit of a 2006 team game, where they stink it up for a big chunk of the game but if you look at the final score it seemed like a by-the-numbers cruise to a comfortable win.

Team had no energy first half. No fouling because they just didn’t play hard. Corrected that late, carried it on and put DePaul away. Ugly at times but a huge game from Reed, clutch moments from Ball. Stewart was huge in the first half. Diarra is not 100% but we don’t have Nowell. Gut check game for him. Alex just frigid but made some great passes.

On to Marquette and hopefully we have Liam and Alex finds his shot.

I was crashing out hard. Thank you Tarris and Solo for bringing me back to earth and keeping us above the bubble. In the second half, Solo had two monster blocks, a beautiful three, a STRONG and1, a 4 point play, a floater, and 2 FTs to send them home

Tale of 2 halves. In the first half, this team was not good. We played like the worst defense in the Big East, so when the offense wasn't working we were getting smoked by DePaul in CT. It is hard to understate how scary that is. In the second half, we played stronger defense and took over offensively. We also saw that if Tarris Reed has a favorable matchup, we need to go to it repeatedly

My first hope is that Liam is fully healthy soon, and my second hope is that Karaban gets out of this mental funk. I support Alex 100%. He's a great player, I want him to have the green light every time he touches it, and I want him to feel comfortable doing it.

Obviously we aren't where we want to be. There are still five Q1 games on the schedule, and the next 3 games will tell us how the season goes. Let's go Huskies!!

Tough game to watch especially in first half. I tuned in late so I’m partially responsible as well.

Nice to win a game when AK shot so poorly. Props to Ball, Reed Jr., Stewie and Mahaney in spurts. Needed this win. Now on to Marquette.

I do remember that team well. Would be in an overslept 2nd gear for large chunks only to ramp it up just enough to grab a W. It wasn’t an approach that worked well come March. Such a talented team.

Don't care how they get em but they somehow need to scrape wins out all of the remaining Seton Hall/Georgetown/Villanova games and somehow get 2 wins out of the 5 games with St Johns/Marquette/Creighton. It would be alot more doable and expected with a healthy Liam.

As far as AK, does dude have depth perception issues or something? For all the talk on here about him not being a dribble drive guy he's getting to his spots, these are point blank floaters and push shots, you're a high level D1 guy you gotta make these.
