Delaware Post Game Meltdown

Defense was terrible. The team is undisciplined with all of the penalties. Fagnano is a mediocre quarterback whom we are stuck with. Rosa has a nose for the goal line, yet he barely gets touches. McDonald comes in cold off the bench on 1st and 10 and they dial up a pass play? Bell needs to get the ball more, but he is probably double covered because we've developed no other receiving threats, nor a quarterback who shows any consistency with passing. Clock management at the end was questionable. Lots of blame to go around.

Why were they snapping the ball with 10 seconds left on the play clock.

That’s on the OC and the Head Coach.

Coaching malpractice.
This, not enough is being made of this. This is the second week in a row where we were running down the clock and snapped the ball multiple times with +10 on the play clock. Why, Why, Why? They could have run off at least another minute and that is the difference. 2 weeks in a row!!

Move on from Fagnano. Need a mobile QB see what Evers can do and if he is not the answer then you know for next year. On the fourth and 2, if he makes a decent pass to the receiver it's a first down, game over. OT, if he leads the TE he walks into end zone. Throws it behind him. He has no accuracy and no mobility
We have seen enough of Evers to know he isn't the answer. Evers can't throw to save his life and while more mobile than Joe F. He is hardly one to miss tackles and move the chain. It looks like the Defense is more the issue than the offense.

I said “run clock” in the chat. Others disagreed with me. Ridiculous.

I could not watch it. What defensive alignment were they using? Three down linemen or four?

Anyone that wants to invest in football if it even diverts 1% of resources from basketball, see this loss as evidence as why that would be the wrong decision.

huh?

the goal is to build a P4-caliber team, to get us P4-level W/L results, and thus to get us to the P4.
yes, I'm worried about the P4, for the future of UConn athletics.
Wake up man, the strategy has been on full display: Spend just enough money on football until 2031 when (hopefully) the ACC loses at least 4 teams and they have no choice but to finally give us a backfill invite. Seriously, fingers crossed, because if we’re stuck in the BE beyond that then football needs to get cut. It’s now impossible to run a successful Indy football program unless youre Notre Dame, so there would be no sense in continuing to divert precious resources from the other sports.

I'm laughing at everyone who suggests Joe should sit in favor of Evers. Evers would be lucky to even get to the three yard line.

You have Cam and Rosa. You run. Nine men in the box? You only need one hole.
Rosa probably ain't playing much anymore this year after that fumble. It's clearly why he doesn't play and it's too bad because he's great besides the fumbles

We have seen 7 years of Joe. 1 of Evers, he has future eligibility. See if he's improved in the off-season. If not you then know what you need to do for next year

All of his teams have been undisciplined.

He does a lot of things right but when it comes to actually managing the game I don't think he does a very good job.

Numerous losses year 2 that were handed away, the ACC games last year, and now 2 this year (so far) Games handed away because of bad management, play calling, and seemingly a program culture of lack of discipline and not being able to perform in the big moments.

Not good.

Team and staff just can never make the play to put the game away. Unbelievable that they kept giving Cam the ball when he was clearly hurt. And Joe couldn’t hit a wide open Hansen twice. And Chadwick’s pi on 4th down. So many losing plays
I blame Chadwick for the loss. He was awful all game, and should not see the field. Try someone else.

There was at least one play in the final five minutes where we snapped the ball with over 20 seconds left on the play clock. I bet if you went back and watched a replay of this game, you could find at least a minute of clock we could have killed in the last five minutes just by snapping the ball with less than five seconds left each time. Mora is capable of better, and I don't understand this.

Huh? Joe F. Hasn't been playjng us for that long as Evers had plenty of time to prove himself last year There is a reason why he couldn't stick with any big school he was at. If you want to put him in on 3rd, 4th downs and short to provide options fine but benching Joe for him isn't the answer then out offense and defense will suck.

We had the ball and the lead and could not get 2 yards on 3rd and 4th down. Fagnano had plenty of time much of the game to find Bell more. Bell was covered one on one when we threw to the TE who was short of the line to gain to give them the ball back on their final drive in regulation. Delaware was explosive against Colorado but turned it over. We forced no turnovers. Dropped possible interceptions twice that I can recall. 2 weeks in a row with losses that were due to lack of execution in crunch time. Sad to say we have all seen this too often with UConn football.

Joe has played meaningful minutes in all 7 years. Last year was the first for Evers
