Baylor pulling them in it seems huh.

It appears that Kim Mulkey (who has become a master recruiter) is getting "first dibs" on the top talent across the state, while the other Texas programs are left to fight for her left overs.

What a reversal in fortunes. It was only a few years ago when it was the other way around. Make no mistake about it. Baylor has become a coveted destination by the local talent. Mulkey has put Baylor on the map of highly ranked WCBB programs.

Rumor has been for some time that Richards and Alexis Morris have been Baylor leans and are good friends and want to play together. I suspect that a verbal by Morris may be soon to follow.

March 20 goes down as a good day for Baylor fans. Baylor advances to Dallas, Richards verbals and Louisville loses. ;)

I've lurked the Baylor board a good bit lately and the dislike for Louisville is VERY strong there. Probably stronger than the dislike for fellow Texas schools... Why is that?

Does it just stem from that Louisville upset over Baylor a few years ago or is there more to it?

It stems from the game plan that most Baylor fans suspect Walz instructed his players to use. Most Baylor fans believe him to be a man who is willing to do anything to win and feel that he deserves no respect.

Don't lurk! We welcome guests, especially fellow southerners.

You are walking a thin line here. We have a rule against harmful speculation - stick to facts, not to what you think Jeff Walz believes.

Point taken and post adjusted as not to claim this to be a known fact.

Thanks for the invite! Congrats on Richards by the way.. I've watched a ton of video on her and I still think she's underrated a little.

I'm really impressed by Mulkey's ability to keep elite Texas talent at Baylor.. keep that up and more national championships (with an -s) will come to Waco..

I still think Dawn has the inside track on a couple of 2017 recruits from Texas, especially Chasity Patterson.

Not if Mulkey has anything to do with it! :D

Seriously though, who are these recruits you speak of? Dawn moves in silence so her recruiting strategy is largely unknown but some of us on the Gamecock board are becoming pretty adept at researching and getting information. There's almost nothing on our board about 2017 Texas players... Richards was the only 2017 player we knew anything about..

Only Texas recruits we know for sure that Dawn is/was recruiting are Didi Richards and Sedona Prince (along with the rest of the country), and Prince is a 2018. Enlighten me to your wisdom!

I hope Patterson doesn't make the unfortunate mistake of committing to Kentucky. Gross.

Guess my source was right!

Here's an article on that commitment: http://espn.go.com/espnw/sports/art...rds-gives-verbal-commitment-baylor-lady-bears

Not that familiar with her, but she seems to be an off-guard. Will be interesting to see if she and 2016 recruit Natalie Chou -- about the same size, but listed as a combo guard -- fit together. Baylor is starting to resemble OSU and Maryland -- so many parts coming in, how do you find the best way to assemble them?

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a bunch of transfers next year and the year after.

Sorry Nan, I lost respect for Walz for the Baylor game. Whether he instructed his players to get that physical or not,he did not tell them to stop. I don't even particularly like Baylor but that game got me very upset.

Mulkey has a strong relationship with the DFW program.

I hope we don't have to hear anymore talk (claims/assertions) about UConn getting ALL of the blue chip talent. Baylor, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Louisville are soaking up all of the top talent now, be they transfers or recruits.

That argument was always more of an excuse than a reality. UConn generally keeps their roster to 11 or 12 scholly players and then you see these other teams with all the players they are trying to shuffle in and out to make room or what have you and I think hold on.... didn't you say UConn gets ALL the players? lol

Yeah! It looks like the old ball coach (Mulkey) is playing "musical chairs" down there in Waco. You know what happens when the music stops.

Yep, the meme that Connecticut "gets all the best talent" has always been wrong. UConn has sometimes got the best player in the country- Diana, Maya, Breanna, or Tina. But lots of great players have given Connecticut a pass: Jewel Lloyd, Taya Reimer, A'ja Wilson, and lots and lots of others. Not only does Coach Geno not use all of his scholarships, but UConn has often played with an almost nonexistent bench. And not because he likes it that way, but because a lot of kids he wanted went elsewhere.

But he's overcome those recruiting losses (remember when Kelly Faris was his only recruit one year, or that Saniya Chong was also a one-recruit recruiting class?) with coaching genius.

And we get to have our cake and eat it too.

You got Stewart, Tuck and Jefferson in the same class. Are you saying that Geno has not had the top talent for the past four years? The real test will be next year when Geno ONLY has three top 10 players in Samuelson, Collier and Dangerfield, plus Canadian National Team member Nurse.

Transfers are part of the game, as evidenced by UCONN's current roster being impacted by the transfer-out of Edwards and Byokin, and transfer-in of Butler. Baylor has lost two transfers out at the guard position in the past couple of seasons with Small and Wright choosing to leave the team. Both saw the writing on the wall that their playing time would be limited with the transfer-in of Jones. Buckner also chose to leave when Mulkey landed the two top post players in the 2015 class.

It would not surprise me to see Baylor lose a couple of players after this season as there are a few who simply are not going to get much playing time. But they may have the same decision to make that some UCONN players have to make, stay for the chance at a national championship or leave and go somewhere else for more playing time.
