So, I survived for those of you who were worried. Lucked out in the first store. Also stocked up on snacks for the basketball games and football. Gassed up the cars, so I'm ready for the storm. So my husband tells me he needs bread. Idiot. So now I'm on the Bread Death Walk. Wish me luck.
You are a good wife. He doesn't deserve you.So, I survived for those of you who were worried. Lucked out in the first store. Also stocked up on snacks for the basketball games and football. Gassed up the cars, so I'm ready for the storm.
Luckily I got my my big food shopping trip done the beginning of the week. Just did my little bit of grocery shopping, gassing up my car as well. Grocery stores on the verge of a storm are dangerous lol. Now you can relax while people freak out later on, I still gotta make a beer run a number 1 priority. So, I survived for those of you who were worried. Lucked out in the first store. Throwing this out on my twitter if anyone wants to play along.. feel free to post replies here if not on Twitter.
I’m worried about my roof (deck) as a foot of wet snow makes me remember HCC roof collapse.Get the ice axes ready. If this does turn into an ice event, you will want to chop at the icicles, so that don't jack the roof off of your house.
Doesn’t sound too bad a few exits up the line, but here in Stamford I needed elbow and knee pads at Stop & Shop and Grade A today. People running stop signs and speeding way over the limit has become de rigueur in my neck of the woods in the last few years, so I can’t attribute today’s road observations to pre-storm craziness. The psychology of the storms is interesting…
My mom broke her leg over Christmas Eve and she wants to come home from her rehab center today even though I’m pleading her to stay until Tuesday.
Anyways, I just left ShopRite to pickup groceries and while the store was fine, but all the parking lot space parallel to the borders of the store were jam-packed…but two columns to the left of the store, only half full.

Gonna start a new musical: shoveler on the roof!
Can't as temps here won't be above freezing so spigot on the roof is not gonna be good.Yeah, you don't want heavy moisture snow/ice on the roof. But geting up on the roof to shovel is a real hazard.
Take your garden hose and wash it off with water.
I was at the Stamford ShopRite off Exit 6, lol.Doesn’t sound too bad a few exits up the line, but here in Stamford I needed elbow and knee pads at Stop & Shop and Grade A today. My sis was an ER nurse. The cops would pick her up in their suv and drive her to work in a bad storm.Any essential workers like me preparing to go in and sleep over at work Sunday night before the real meat of the storm hits? At least I’ll be in Cambridge and can maybe trudge over to a bar before packing it in for the night.
Dang really? How’d she swing that? I’ve never heard of thatMy sis was an ER nurse. The cops would pick her up in their suv and drive her to work in a bad storm.
granted, you’re not her and don’t have the full story. But that indicatesShe said she wasn’t driving in a storm that bad. If the hospital wanted her there get her a ride. She only lived 7 miles from hospital
I don’t know how the hospitals got it worked out Just that when weather was really bad and she couldn’t get tot the hospital as a courtesy she got a ride from the cops in a suv.granted, you’re not her and don’t have the full story. But that indicates
She said she wasn’t driving
Hospital called the police??
???
Your sister wound up with police limo driving??
I’m sorry but I’m not seeing how that happened lol but again you don’t have all the details, just a wild situation to me
I have a family member who’s an ER attending and had the same setup. There are cops stationed in the ER, they tend to have a good relationship with the staffI don’t know how the hospitals got it worked out Just that when weather was really bad and she couldn’t get tot the hospital as a courtesy she got a ride from the cops in a suv.
Oh you meant Cambridge, MA not the U in England....not sure how this affects them.Any essential workers like me preparing to go in and sleep over at work Sunday night before the real meat of the storm hits?
