Yes, the new forecast from NOAA where I live is about 38". Just talked to a guy in RI who is at 28" now.

My driveway goes north south. I did one pass headed north and it all came back at me despite the chute being aimed east. I used reverse a lot after.

Storm was not a big deal- got around 27 inches in Long Island- I was at work at 8:10AM making it happened. Roads are way better now compared to this morning- feel free to get out there!! I drive a Subaru Legacy as well- not a huge truck- no big deal- amazing how much the media & our institutions make people so nervous & stress. They closed my kids school for tomorrow now too- lol- so soft.

It scrapes the snow off of the inside of your barrel and throws it much better. Especially on my older Ariens, the improvement was amazing. My blower mows thru heavy wet snow like the 23/24 Huskies.

If you don't have the kit or tools try spraying Pam on the augers and chute. It works very well.

Alex, the valley hadn't seen more than 12" in a single storm since 2013.

I've been over 12" multiple times and the Jan 25, 2026 storm, Simsbury, Burlington & Canton all got in the mid teens.
 
Hard to say how much we got on the shoreline in SE CT. Definitely all of 2 feet. In my backyard while I made my way to the shed there were snow heaves up to my hips thanks to the wind

Edit: It died again. Didn't move more than about 2 feet into the snow and the power to the wheels stopped. Maybe snapped an axle or something. I am utterly screwed. We have close to 14" already.

HuskyHawk. I have a 1988 Ariens 8HP snowblower. In February 2021 the same thing happened to me. Everything worked but no power to the wheels. I took it to W H Preuss in Bolton Notch on RT 44.. I had a broken spring for the drive idler arm. They split the unit and replaced the drive belt as well. My drive disk was okay. Labor was $175. Well worth fixing. Also with the old carb turn off the gas valve and run the engine dry after every use. I was using Stabil and thought that was enough but the carb was struggling with a deep snow. Stupid ethanol. Even with Stabil it causes trouble if not run often. Put in Seafoam and ran it today and it did much better.

Wind and snow ended in North Madison at 2:30. I got out there at 3:30. My wife joined me at 3. The snow was 2" over the top of the Ariens but had a fluff factor that didn't bog down the machine. Still, not easy charging into it.

My wife chopped down the snow to help me but the wind got into the snow spaces and hardened it. Damn.

Then, at 5, the temps dropped and the fluff factor disappeared.

By 6pm, only 75% of driveway done.
