This board has become so dysfunctional that I can't even read it, and I am a member and the president (just a hair club for men joke). It has become an embarrassment I hate to say. Almost Cesspool 2. There are no longer football discussions - just fire everybody. Well we are NOT going to fire everybody, we have an upcoming season. Get over it.

If you think that anybody would sort through this mess, other than us, you are crazy. It is a joke. Honestly a joke. No cohesive thoughts whatsoever.

Wish I could like this 1,000,000 times. It is non stop complaining. And it feels like it is just to complain. Maybe we can just get one thread where HFD can complain, write open letters to administrators, recruits, donors, current players, former players, and sports columnists.

There can be really good discussion on this board, but there hasn't been for some time, and I feel like I come on here less and less. Every thread is fire this guy, fire the ad, woe is me, this is the worst, the world is ending .. . one big pity party.

Dear Susan -

No matter which way you decide to go on Dan's proposal, I'd ask that you make every effort to deliver on his request for Microsoft Word.

Hugs and Kisses,

Fishy
actually, if memory serves me, a shift key would solve everything.
i'm not superstitious, but how has uconn's fate worked out since that key was lost?

When things arent going well, what do you guys expect people to do? Sing Kum Ba Yah, hold hands and discuss the great effort and/or emotion of yesteryear that allowed us to beat Notre Dame?

Seems fairly typical to criticize when things take a turn for the worse.

In any event, welcome to the club for posting a complaint about complaints....

The problem is we can't even have good discussions about what is wrong, because everyone knows what is wrong -- an incompetent offensive coordinator, and a head coach who cares more about maintaining good relationships in his old boys network (or returning the favor to the man who gave him his start in coaching) than about winning and building up the school's stature.

Since we all agree on the problem, discussing it sounds like complaining. The only thing to talk about is wondering why it isn't being fixed.

College and NFL football is all about the "old boys network" - not just in CT. South and Plains are just as bad as CT. It's how coaching staffs are put together. Not saying right or wrong - just pointing out it's not intrinsic to the bedrock of the Northeast.

None of us are happy about where we are, but it is disingenuous to think SH and WM don't have a game plan. They have a lot of issues hanging in the balance, like that plate spinner on the old Ed Sullivan Show. It's great to have vision, but vision without execution is hallucination. They are fully aware of the stakes. I don't have to tell you there's a lot going on--just maybe not at the pace or with the publicity you'd prefer.
Thank you!!!!!!!!

I've finally realized why P reminded me of Topo Gigio and GDL reminded me of Señor Wences!

1)look of wtf/denial that his strategy didn't work
2)bugers falling from the left side of his nose towards his upper lip

then u come back here and tell me again why i am so frucking embarassing to you.

prior to yesterday i thought hfd was crazy, out of his mind, a lunatic, but after yesterday's phony brush with salvation i see him as a true prophet, he's a long haired john the baptist standing in the river, typing in tongues, frightening all but a few devoted followers. the fire is indeed burning and we desperately need salvation.

Koolaid anyone? Just drink deeply, quaff it until you and the Koolaid are no more.

We need some positive energy. Some wins would cure a lot of the negativity. Unfortunately since we don't play a game till next year, and this board is incapable of breaking out of its misery on its own, that means months and months more of these kinds of threads. Especially if GDL doesn't get a soft landing somewhere and we're stuck with him. Until we win a bunch of games there football board is going to be a plague of locusts, feeding on the corpse of whatever target happens to come up that week (PP, GDL, WM, Susan, Dez, Daigneault, Jacobs, Silver, Blauschun, Malloy, Edsall, ESPN, Aresco, Hathaway, Hogan, McHugh, CT HS coaches... did I miss anybody?)

i know you have a lot on your plate. you did a great job with the netwon stuff and are clearly on the agressive and correct path with academics at uconn. but you have a major fire that needs to be adressed. the football staff needs to be fired, specifically paul and george. clean house if we have to for a new coach if he wants. what you had yesterday was a great example of the fire. the horde has been horrible as of late. one posts his source and it tunrs out to be wrong. not the end of the world normally, but in this case it just put baggage on top of bags. current players, recruits, students, fans and alums spent a good part of the day on social media and elsewhere all celebrating this as geroge was one of the problems here at uconn. i plea with you to recongize this and how serious this is. it needs to be adressed. things have gotten out of hand. there are fake twitters of your ad, your HC, your OC and now the most hated beat writer east of the hudson. when is it all going to stop? it will stop when you make it stop susan. you have to fire warde, paul and george. the 3 of them have caused a image problem here that makes me think the titanic is worth a 2nd trip across the pond. the way the ko contract was handled was disgusting and i will never let warde off the hook for that but thats small potatoes to what he is doing with the football staff. i can go on for days susan, trust me this whole board has seen it.

-fire warde
-fire paul
-fire george
-take away the hartford courtants media pass to uconn

if you don't do these this susan, i don't think u realize the fire burning. its bad, but the longer this goes on i promise you it going to get way worse. you have had our point guard call out warde and a wide reciever call out the OC recently among 100 other examples of the clown show. do u not see the fire susan? i beg you to handle this. hell, i'll drive up to storrs susan and take care of it myself. just give me the key to the athletic department and a marketing intern, oh and i'll need microsoft word.....
OK after reading the OP again I want to ask you something dan - can you try to have faith that UConn is bigger than all this? When you think about all that UConn has been through the past 30 years, or go back even further if you want, all the highs and lows, different presidents and administrators... you seriously think UConn can't weather the issues you cited? I know there's uncertainty about the conference situation, and I am worried about it too. I want PP gone too. We disagree about WM. But they are all smaller than UConn. Even a Calhoun and Auriemma are smaller than UConn and the state of Connecticut. One more 4-5 win season, as **y as it will feel is 100% guaranteed to NOT destroy UConn or UConn football. Jesus. Grow a duck*ing sack. We got this.

i honestly think there is a person or 3 in positions that they shouldnt be at uconn right now and because of that i fear we can't be typical uconn and rise above the issues. this is why i am so nutzo.

These things take time. You can't blow up an athletic department every couple years and start over every time with a new AD. That is a guaranteed recipe for disaster. Yes fire PP by all means, now or next year. If he turns the ship around let I'd him finish the contract and then bring in a high-energy HC. But by demanding WM be fired right now, realize the precedent you're setting. It would set up UConn to be a place that fires its AD every two years because the AD doesn't fire the HC every year. (And again I AGREE WE ALL AGREE WE WANTED PP AND GDL FIRED). It would become a career graveyard - a job that no HC or AD would want. That would hurt UConn far more than 2-3 losing seasons, and if you think the fanbase is negative or apathetic now, wait until we have 3-4 head coaches in a row with poor records. We'd be Syracuse.

syracuse has better marketing/media/big boy things, is a private school who gets it more than we do and is in the acc. they are stair cases ahead of uconn right now and shouldnt be.

ok, u can go talk about ray lewis stabbing his way thru espn and other threads like that. i rather talk about the issues at uconn. ray lewis doesn't do for me becuase he has as many uconn connections as britney spears does.

Am I the only one that thinks that GDL is gone, possibly even before the Spring Game?

Dez may have gotten it wrong, but didn't anyone find PP's reaction to it all a bit weird? Almost as if he wanted to be non-committal about the answer? I'll tell you what; If one of my best friends, a lifelong friend, is rumored to be leaving the job we both work at (especially if he reports to me), I'm saying one of the following two things to Dez:

1) No comment (and then I'm getting on the horn fast to my friend to say, "WTF?!?"), or...
2) Are you sure about that? This is the first I'm hearing about it!

But PP didn't say anything like that. He said something to the effect of, "....well this is the time of year, where guys are coming and going, and blah blah blah..." That's not the response of someone that is finding out that a great friend and longtime colleague is leaving him without letting him know. My guess is that either PP knows GDL is in the process of getting gone, or he knows that he already is gone but is staying until the recruits sign their LOI's in early February. That's my thinking anyways, for what it's worth...

Just for clarity, this is PP's comment per Dez:

“There’s no information or anything on that,” Pasqualoni said. “…my only comment to you is that at this time of year, you know what time of year this is, so, you know. There’s a lot in regards to coaches and movement, around this time of year there’s a lot of speculation on a lot of things.”
So will he back next year or…?
“Well right now I anticipate the staff I have being back right now – but you know this. This is the time of year where we’ve already lost two guys [defensive coordinator Don Brown [Boston College] and special teams/running backs coach Clayton White [N.C. State]…you know what time of year it is.”

NO THEY AREN'T. They have a spot in the ACC, that's the ONLY THING they have up on us. Come on! The HuskyFanDan we all know and love would never say that cuse "gets it" or is ahead of UConn in anything. What have you done with him?

hes going thru addiction problems. he loved his drank, smoke and uconn sports. 2 of the 3 he gets on the reg like always. one of them has been messed up and hes getting a horrible supply of it so like any addict hes going bonkers looking for some good substance. the more he digs and looks for it, the more he finds out his uconn sports addiction is with current leadership so the substance sucks.

So, we need to find you some sort of UConn/Methadone? to cut back some of the burn?

While I toss likes at your posts, I also feel like I am enabling the kid who acts up in the class. We need that kid here to lighten the mood, but I want to see that you can survive without the attention.

You post some great stuff and some wild stuff and some almost scary stuff.

You are pulling the wheel on the aircraft carrier that is UConn. (I will not call it the Titanic) It's turn radius is not tight, here in the land of steady habits my friend. Give your input to a lot of people, in a constructive way, and you will help. Here you have like minded folks... we see your vision for UConn. Outside of here, the vision is not so clear and the delivery is almost more important than the message.
