Wouldn’t it make sense that someone on the DH team floated the 100mil number to Fanta to get it out there and get DB on the ball with a new contract???

The only 'Expert' in the whole process was Dan Hurley. Everyone could learn from coach on how to conduct yourself with class in negotiations.
He told us after he failed to leverage the Kentucky interest... wont do that again.

You think that’s what Woj was doing?!?!
I kept reading about the Lakers "relentlessly pursuing" Hurley. What was so relentless about it? They asked him to go out to LA and they made him a mediocre offer?

(a) I'm not sure what the point of this comment is.
(b) How does reporting that the Lakers are "relentlessly" pursuing Hurley possibly carry water for the Lakers? How does that information help them in any way? Particularly if, as now, they have egg on their face?
(c) To the extent Woj is doing anyone's bidding here, it's not the Lakers.

Wasn't that Woj's reporting? My point is only that he seemed to be the only one that had real information as opposed to everyone else who were just spouting off their opinions. And his information was totally bogus.

The comment that I was responding to was that Woj was working for the Lakers to "frame a narrative." I think that's a comically wrong take on the situation.

I think the point is, we were led to believe UConn faced this unbeatable foe who was throwing money we couldn't match and this prestigious coaching position at him....and it ended up just being a run of the mill, generic offer that was turned down pretty easily.

To what end? To create angst within a fanbase? You think Woj was trying to create a narrative that the Lakers offer was "unbeatable" to pressure Hurley on behalf of the Lakers? Because that seems pretty silly and useless. Again, the idea that Woj was creating a narrative to benefit the Lakers just makes zero sense in this situation.

No. To do what sports media does now. Take a lukewarm storyline and turn it into a powder keg. For clicks and headlines and views.

Do you not see that?
