Fanta loves DH. Looooves him. He'll agree with him whatever he does. He followed him to the billy Joel concert and got some nosebleed seats and a pair of binoculars so he could watch Dan Luke and Andrea from afar.... and smile.

I said this when he predicted DH to the Lakers:

I think Fanta thought the writing was on the wall, so he decided to butter him up by talking about what a great opportunity it was and how he'd be crazy not to take it.

And now, according to Fanta, it's just a wonderful day for college basketball.

He didn't come out of this looking great, I gotta say.

I hate all of the field of 68 for how giddy they were at Hurley going to LA. My theory was they expected this would give them an in to go visit the lakers and squeeze into NBA coverage

Is there a single reporter who got anything right in this saga? It's almost as if Hurley got the collective media to add misdirection to the situation.

I have much more of a problem with Jeff Goodman acting as though he had all this information ahead of time in his post announcement media.

Nobody could get anything right in terms of reporting because there was nothing to report.

You could get it right by keeping your mouth shut but these guys are content creators.

A lot of reporters wrote what were essentially op-pieces about why DH should or shouldn't take the job. They've all got the right to do it but for Fanta to say it was a no-brainer and then fist pump today is a bad look IMO. It was like 3 days ago dude.

This is such a lame thread. Digging on Fanta when he’s been a UConn fan boy all along. He has a job to do, gave his opinion, so what. He still loves UConn and is a big advocate out there.

Some of you need to decide to just be nice and happy. It a choice, just make it and flip the switch. This look can pop up once in a while but come on, really we’re digging Fanta now? Who’s next?

It's easy to be a big advocate of UConn when we're winning back to back championships. Was he a huge fan before that? Would he still love UConn if Hurley had taken his advice and left for LA?

He can take his lumps like everybody else who made a bad call. Nobody's putting him in the wood chipper.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Seems to be a belief vs. hope thing though. I doubt Fanta hoped he'd leave, as his presence(success) in the media would surely be affected.

I'm a huge Fanta guy, not very often you get a completely passionate announcer who also calls the game fairly.

He was like a bad witness during cross he kept changing the story and when he could not change it he started making things up. I maybe would have given him a pass but then he posts at 8pm et that the team had no scheduled activities over the weekend after the weekend was over…. Is that content?

I would have respected him more if he went with “any scheduled team activities that may have been scheduled for the weekend have not taken place.” At least get creative with your clickbait. I mean by that point it’s that or just leave it alone.

Fanta wasn’t the only one. It was everyone. Fanta is still one of the best in the game
Everyone?? I'm sure no one on the Yard even remotely suggested the Lakers job was better. We would never do that here.

I love Fanta and his passion for UConn and the Big East, but he made a fool of himself the last few days acting as though he had sources and dishing out baseless facts.

Note: Norlander seems to have inadvertently spilled the beans. On his podcast he mentioned that him Fanta and Borzello were in a group chat totally guessing as to what would happen next in the Hurley saga.

He was absolutely giddy about Hurley leaving for LA and wouldn't shut up about it, he was also making stuff up pretending he had the scoop. I wouldn't care about some rando giving his opinion on why a coach should leave but this is the guy who has been the biggest cheerleader for the Big East since he got in media and he went about this the wrong way. I got strong vibes he thought he would be the next Brian Windhorst and follow Hurley around the Lakers and the NBA for the next couple decades. Now he's trying to clean it all up with videos fawning all over UConn and Hurley for staying.

I've always really liked him but it will be harder to take him seriously going forward.

Fanta, much like Goodman, wants to be an insider that is respected so bad. Just be the goofy, enthusiast youve always been. He was trolling for clicks this week like he was the product expert, and the truth is, he isnt. He doesnt know ball, and he isnt big in the inner circles.
