Right where they are right now just a couple more wins per season. No Arkheel, no Cochran, just battling to be above .500. Which is why I think the ceiling is much higher with Diaco than it ever would be with Edsall. Recruiting is up, strength & conditioning...up, coach - media interaction seems better. I believe in a couple more years we'll be thanking our lucky stars that Maryland took Edsall off our hands.

Don't know where to start. The records over the last few years are not close, and Edsall is coaching in a conference that is much much tougher. I'm all in with Diaco, but Edsall had Uconn in a great position and I'd bet we would've made another couple bowl games in the Last few years with him instead of being a 2-3 win team.

Can't help but wonder how things would have played out for us in CR if he had stuck around for a couple more years. The roof caved in on us at the worst possible time.

The roof was starting to cave in before RE left due to Hathaway running a dysfunctional athletic department. RE, of all people, complained about not being able to get recruits cleared academically. He knew the Fiesta Bowl was going to be his high point, so he got out when the getting was good. If Hogan and Hathaway had been replaced before that point, then things might have been different. But if he had stayed, I think he still would have needed to bring in some assistants to make his staff more competitive on the recruiting trail.

UConn made a bad hire in Pasqualoni which made Edsall look good by comparison. He got blown out in big games a lot and would get overly conservative with his offensive play calling, including weirdness like his love affair with inside handoffs. Edsall had a very talented team from 2007 through 2009, and I think they underachieved at least 1 win each year during that period. I actually thought the Fiesta Bowl team was something of an overachieving team, although a very down Big East that year had a lot to do with that title.

He was a serviceable coach, and I thought a really good recruiter for a school like UConn. I did not like it when he blamed his players for losses or his endless flirtations with other schools. I think this hurt our recruiting for Edsall's last two classes. Fridge was a very good coach, and I did not think Edsall could match him. Edsall didn't.

Cheer up del, at least the game at MSG will be fun

Yep. Hoops is right around the corner and by all accounts, we are back. Nice to see GT, UNC and UConn on the schedule so early.
