DC & NYC I-95 on weekends?

Starting to plan out our trip up north to CT. Haven't done I-95 "thru" DC and NYC in ages, electing to use I-81. as we would normally be driving during the week. This year, we're headed to Tanglewood for a concert on a Sunday, and wondering if anyone has had recent experience with the western spur of I-495 around DC on a Saturday, and then I-95 up to GW Bridge on a Sunday? TIA

Both are complete shit.

On Sunday, take the NYS Thruway instead of going across the GWB. If the GWB doesn't kill you, the Taconic might.

It's actually slightly faster to take the Thruway on a perfect day - it could be a whole lot faster on a bad day.
