  • Nobody wants to score. We run great sets, great screens, great movement, then suddenly there’s 7-10 seconds left and nobody has even looked at the rim. No Newton or Cam to bail us out this year
We full way too much in love with this offense to the point it seems more important to run it than develop real offensive skills that help rise above the Xs and Os and score.

I’m hoping we push Solo as the 1A guy and have him get aggressive overall and live with the growing pains that come with it.

I said all summer he was the most impactful player in college hoops since Anthony Davis. Hurley gave himself and his genius offense all the credit though

Leadership starts from the top. We all love Danny, but he needs to settle down. His antics and constant berating of the zebras was borderline unhinged. Losing sucks, but he made it worse with his actions.

We DO have a point guard BTW, Ahmad Nowell. We will see more of him very soon.

If you're pinning you hopes on Nowell, good luck. It's possible he'll be great. But right now, he looks like a freshman. And he has made virtually no impact in any game he has played.

I took a nap on the coach around 11 hoping I would wake up by game time. I missed the game as I completely passed out and didn't wake up till 240.

Some guys have all the luck .

I thought they would lose this one.. Seemed like a let’s get out of town game. Sort of like a baseball team playing an afternoon game to end a long road trip. Get it over with and get on the plane.

How did Hurley and staff get this job? They. Clearly have no ideas what they are doing or how to assess talent vs role and need. Blah. Blah. Blah.
You are correct after all Danny and his gang of only coached Uccon to back you back championships. They are the most useless gang of coaches in this universe system. Your remarks are just genius thank you for gracing us fans with your Biblical level wisdom. You rock!!!

Anyone else a bit worried that Castle may end up being the only hit on talent evaluation from the 2023 class? It has been a pattern with Hurley that the kids he recruits are either above and beyond hits (Clingan, Jackson, Hawkins, Sanogo, Castle) or mid-major type misses (Diggins, Floyd, Gaffney)
No but it’s clear Singare isn’t it, after two years of practice he still looks like he has never played basketball before

Hurley’s toughest decision is who is going to play over Johnson.

Reed is starting and will play as long as he can. I would play Stewart at the 5 or Karaban at the 5 and Stewart at the 4.
He has a man crush on Johnson and needs to admit he was wrong…remember the “he has the potential to have his jersey on the wall” talk? Lol….

He did this with Andre too and was eventually vindicated, but let’s not forget that stretch where he was unplayable in 2023.

Carrots go in dressing, not stuffing.
There is no difference between the ingredients of sctuffing bs dressing EXCEPT where ea h is Cooke. Stuffing is cooked inside the bird and stuffing outside. I learned this the last year that my wife was alive when I cooked most of the Thanksgiving dinner under the wise watch-full supervision of my wife. Family members brought or cooked just about everything else. It was a Emirates le Thanksgiving for our family to having been able to spend it with my wife though sadly her last. If it wasn’t for my grandkids kids and surviving siblings I would no longer look forward to Thanksgiving. My wife was also a rabid UCONN FAN.

If he figures out a way for this team to make the tourney it will be his best coaching job to date while with UConn.

He is going to make adjustments, it sucked but once this thing started to snowball against Memphis it was headed off the rails, followed by the incredible game winning shot these kids are only human they were shell shocked.

I believe we are not as good as we thought we were but we will be better than all of us think right now by the end of year.

Just have to figure out how to work with the talent they have and be competitive in each game.

because we were the 8th best team in the conference
When you destroy everyone, you become a bully without even realizing it. Clingan was the luxury who propelled them to the back-to-backs. They're nowhere near as bad as they looked in Maui. They're learning adversity.

Since today's Thanksgiving, I'm very thankful that I didn't stay up to watch the game and that I have fast forward on my DVR. Yikes.
I stayed up, but I slept from 8-11. Reminded me of when I worked 3rd shift one summer when I was going to UConn.

No it wouldn’t be. The talent is there. He just has to put guys in proper roles.

It's was a bad 60 hours.

Unfortunately us fans are held to the five year rule of not being able to whine for five seasons after a championship.

Reality needs to come fast for the players. It has to he an 8-9 man rotation. And Nowell ahead of Mahaney has to be the hard conversation.

Samson Johnson left Maui with 13 fouls and five rebounds.

Karaban and McNeeley can't alternate games of not making shots.

Players have to learn to play defense with their feet and not their hands and realize it's rarely good to commit fouls 30-35 feet from the basketball.
They got punched in the face three days in a row- coaching staff included. Time to see how they respond.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
The 5 year rule ? This is the BY We adhere to the 5-6 month rule.
He needs to find the 6-7 guys who can defend and rebound .
When teams are shooting 50% against you and miss giving them a second chance statistically guarantees a score.
This team has a long way to go but has enough talent to be successful if they step up the D and rebound .
We lack a true rim protector which means we can’t hide a less athletic defender( s)like we could last year . We need to be playing the 7-8 best athletes as long as you have 2-3 legitimate outside threats the offense should be okay. Karaban could be going to the glass more using his strength because he probably could be out best rebounder if he is in position.
Diarra isn’t a great offensive threat or slick PG but he is your only true 1v1 defender and has to get minutes. He also is the only guard teams will not pressure. They disrespect our other guards.
The 1-3-1 should be junked we simply are not a zone team and contrary to being able to hide weaknesses good opponents will find them.We live or die with the man
I watched the whole game last night 10 :30 start time here and didn’t lose any sleep because I know this team is not as bad as it looked in Maui. Three games in three days against good teams you’re not prepared for can expose a lot of weaknesses but we have the players to be better .
As for those guys worried about rankings pay attention to where we are in a month . That’s the first significant poll of the year.
A tip for Hurley if he reads the BY since we have a weakness protecting the rim.
and a lot of players , pressing full court periodically even if it’s just to slow them getting into their offense might help.

Given the loss of so much talent, it is evident that this team, on its merits alone, would struggle. What is needed is to make this team so resilient and determined, it will make up for some of the lost talent. Well, we are being tested. Iron sharpens iron, etc. Struggling this early is better than struggling later on in the season. Lessons are being learned and we are refocusing on who we are, what we want to do, and how to do it. As fans (true fans) we have no choice but to trust the UConn system.

Actually Jackson turned it around when Hurley finally decided he was not a point guard or shooting guard and moved him inside.

This team has a lot of talent. They are young and incomplete. They will get better as the season progresses. It may be a year where we are middling most of the season and then need some big wins late to make the tournament. Reminds me of the 11-12 team. So much talent, but couldn’t mesh. Drummond, Lamb, Nappier,Boat. Ended the season with 20 wins.

Too much offseason hype train. 3 peat. Jayden Ross. McNeeley is great but still a freshman. Huge issue in the 5 spot in regards to rim protection. Lack of rebounding by everyone. Best thing is it is early and improvements can happen. But this is a huge coaching challenge for Dan and his staff. Right now it is survival mode till we get to conference play.
