If he figures out a way for this team to make the tourney it will be his best coaching job to date while with UConn.
He is going to make adjustments, it sucked but once this thing started to snowball against Memphis it was headed off the rails, followed by the incredible game winning shot these kids are only human they were shell shocked.
I believe we are not as good as we thought we were but we will be better than all of us think right now by the end of year.
Just have to figure out how to work with the talent they have and be competitive in each game.

When you destroy everyone, you become a bully without even realizing it. Clingan was the luxury who propelled them to the back-to-backs. They're nowhere near as bad as they looked in Maui. They're learning adversity.

Since today's Thanksgiving, I'm very thankful that I didn't stay up to watch the game and that I have fast forward on my DVR. Yikes.

I stayed up, but I slept from 8-11. Reminded me of when I worked 3rd shift one summer when I was going to UConn.

He needs to find the 6-7 guys who can defend and rebound .
When teams are shooting 50% against you and miss giving them a second chance statistically guarantees a score.
This team has a long way to go but has enough talent to be successful if they step up the D and rebound .
We lack a true rim protector which means we can’t hide a less athletic defender( s)like we could last year . We need to be playing the 7-8 best athletes as long as you have 2-3 legitimate outside threats the offense should be okay. Karaban could be going to the glass more using his strength because he probably could be out best rebounder if he is in position.
Diarra isn’t a great offensive threat or slick PG but he is your only true 1v1 defender and has to get minutes. He also is the only guard teams will not pressure. They disrespect our other guards.
The 1-3-1 should be junked we simply are not a zone team and contrary to being able to hide weaknesses good opponents will find them.We live or die with the man
I watched the whole game last night 10 :30 start time here and didn’t lose any sleep because I know this team is not as bad as it looked in Maui. Three games in three days against good teams you’re not prepared for can expose a lot of weaknesses but we have the players to be better .
As for those guys worried about rankings pay attention to where we are in a month . That’s the first significant poll of the year.
A tip for Hurley if he reads the BY since we have a weakness protecting the rim.
and a lot of players , pressing full court periodically even if it’s just to slow them getting into their offense might help.
Is maryland eastern community colllege any good or will this be another beatdown?

Given the loss of so much talent, it is evident that this team, on its merits alone, would struggle. What is needed is to make this team so resilient and determined, it will make up for some of the lost talent. Well, we are being tested. Iron sharpens iron, etc. Struggling this early is better than struggling later on in the season. Lessons are being learned and we are refocusing on who we are, what we want to do, and how to do it. As fans (true fans) we have no choice but to trust the UConn system.

Actually Jackson turned it around when Hurley finally decided he was not a point guard or shooting guard and moved him inside.

This team has a lot of talent. They are young and incomplete. They will get better as the season progresses. It may be a year where we are middling most of the season and then need some big wins late to make the tournament. Reminds me of the 11-12 team. So much talent, but couldn’t mesh. Drummond, Lamb, Nappier,Boat. Ended the season with 20 wins.

Too much offseason hype train. 3 peat. Jayden Ross. McNeeley is great but still a freshman. Huge issue in the 5 spot in regards to rim protection. Lack of rebounding by everyone. Best thing is it is early and improvements can happen. But this is a huge coaching challenge for Dan and his staff. Right now it is survival mode till we get to conference play.
To look on the bright side:
1-Diarra will be OK if he stops thinking he's the best 3 point shooter; I think Dan Hurley is trying to bring Nowell along fast as possible.
2-Ball has enormous potential--hopefully his D can be coached up. Impressive shooting--50% from 3 this year.
3-McNeeley will be fine--needs to drive more. Stewart will be valuable more athletic backup when he improves D.
4-AK can and needs to be used as point forward.
5-Samson's best game. Only 3 fouls in 26 min!! May make an adequate backup. Reed, Jr quite good, averaging twice what he did 23-24.
Oh--and "dressing" only exists because Victorian ladies decided "stuffing" a turkey had far too many appalling connotations.

There’s still a potentially good team in there, but the lineups have been nonsensical so far. As others have stated, Stewart’s lack of minutes has made zero sense on any level, and Samson has proven that he cannot be a starter.
And, for the love of god, Hurley needs to cool it. I get that he’s wired a certain way, but that probably resonated more with the more experienced teams he’s had the last two years. This is a much younger team with a lot of guys playing new roles, so he really needs to pick his spots better.

We have 2 guys on this roster with a shot at the nba right now. Liam is a 1st rounder and Alex is a 2nd rounder. That’s it. Ball is one dimensional on offense. Ross has nba athleticism but not nba skill. Stew can’t play D to save his life. If sanogo couldn’t get drafted Reed won’t either.

Here is my prediction for the rest of this season. We'll have the following record over our 31 game season:
20-11, 14-6
We'll be on the bubble but do somewhat ok in Big East tourney and go 1-1. That puts our record at:
21-12, 14-6
We'll get back into the tournament as an 8 or 9 seed....make slightly decent run to the sweet 16 but thats as far as it goes. We end our season with the following record:
22-13, 14-6
Not a great year...but not a disastrous one either. It'll be a year of rebuilding as growth...but the following year will be back to greatness with our star studded 5 star recruiting class coming.
We'll be back for another title run in 2025/2026.

Solo seems like the guy that can fill the Cam role of getting the ball off a curl and making something happen near the rim or a short midrange. Obviously not as good of an offensive player as Cam was, but he seems the best equipped to make those types of plays
Liam is pretty good at it too but is slow, so it usually turns into a tough shot at the rim. But he’ll get there with some time

And that’s not even taking into consideration that more often than not that whenever the other team was shooting 3’s there wasn’t a UConn player within 10’ of the shooter. ( why were we backing away from players when they initially drove to the foul line giving them wide open midrange shots).

That was the hope but he doesn’t do anything but shoot 3s. Don’t think he has the handling or passing gene that cam did

Problem with that is THE class doesn't address the need for more athletic players 6-8, 6-9, 6-10. Can't keep recruiting Cam Spencer types. For example: recruiting Furphy after landing Mullins. Same player to some extent.

You pop up like a cockroach whenever we lose. I remember looking and you were absent from the boneyard for five months after the championship. That's some way to live.
Thanks bud. We enjoyed Maui a lot and going to the UConn games as well as the non-UConn games, but losing all 3 was humbling as well as getting run out of the gym by Dayton .

This reminds me of 93. We had a great sophomore class and a returning star in Scott Burrell. The sophomores weren’t ready but that transition year sowed the seeds for a great seasons in 94 and 95.
