Fort Worth #1 play Monday then Friday
Fort Worth #3 play Sunday then Saturday
Do I have that correct? WHY??

I just looked it up and saw UConn playing on Friday. And, I’m sure that the game will be at 9:00 pm Central time. It seems that this happens every year. But we gain a day when we get to the Final Four

The UConn men are playing Friday at 9:30pm. If the women win this evening, their next game is Friday at 2:30 or 5:00 in Texas

My god, it never jumped out at me until now. Could the committee have given SC an easier bracket?!?!?! Iowa as a 2 seed? That's insane. They were WAY overseeded. TCU at 3 was better but still overseeded AND they were slipping. Even Oklahoma was overseeded. Is SC the chosen team this year?

Per Rule - the #1 over all seed must play in the earlier set of regionals.

I found this on the NCAA web site when looking at other rules of bracketology, some of which it seems to me they ignore at will. But in any case, the rules say UConn must play on Friday, not Saturday.

In point of fact, all the teams in Fort Worth #1 did not play Monday - North Carolina played Sunday and will have an extra day of rest before facing UConn in the Sweet 16. I have no idea how they determine who plays what day in the "sub-regionals" (i.e. opening rounds).

I get that the 2 Regionals in the same arena are opposite days. However, in the Regionals in Sacramento, I have no idea how the days were determined.

Fair?....no, not really. A problem for UCONN?.....no, not really. There's enough rest time and they've been at home for awhile. They didn't overexert themselves the 1st weekend.

They've had a few games this season with 3 days in between (with travel).

Besides, the kids want to be playing this time of year. Don't need or want a lot of time off.

.-.
I suspect some of the first weekend timing is based on the scheduling of events on campus and for the facility specifically. That is part of the early release of top 16 teams I imagine - time for issues to be resolved.

As for the days between the weekends - not a real issue. Teams are scheduled during the regular season with a midweek and a weekend game most weeks, so three day turnaround generally. They have just done their thee game in 3 day tournament, and now are into two games in three days with 3 or 4 days off between. Should not be an issue for anyone. Nothing is going to change drastically in coaching between the weekends, and recovery for the athletes isn't going to be an issue. An injury might cause a problem, but the chance of an injury that is just bad enough to miss a game on day 4 but not on day 5 isn't very likely.

It seems that they gave Texas an easier bracket also. And they play all their 4 games in Texas before going to Arizona should they make the final four. It's my opinion, that UCONN and UCLA are in much tougher brackets despite overall 1 and 2.
