So we have:

UConn at Trenton
Duke at Norfolk
Baylor at Oklahoma City
Stanford at Spokane

Is that the final four, or will someone knock off Stanford in the regionals?
If I were to bet, I'd say 2-3 of that group. Stanford looks a little more vulnerable without Nneka.

If you have a car and a little time, I strongly recommend treating yourself.

New Hope, PA is about 15 miles up the Delaware. It is an artists' and actors' colony with several charming restaurants. It is a wonderful, wonderful place. I'm guessing that Geno may be eating there.

Ultra ultra early predictions:
TRENTON: UConn, Maryland, Penn St, Delaware
NORFOLK: Duke, N Dame, Cal, Georgia
OKLA CITY: Baylor, Louisville, Vandy, Nebraska
SPOKANE: Kentucky, Stanford, Kansas, Oklahoma

New Hope and Lambertville, NJ, walking distance across the bridge, are very nice destinations for lovers of art, antiques and other shopping, and good food.

Will be visiting there myself in September to consign a couple of paintings for auction at Rago's in Lambertville (David Rago and one or two of his associates are regular appraisers on Antiques Roadshow).

We usually stay at the Wedgewood Inn in New Hope. At several restaurants, you can get a window-side table overlooking the Delaware.

A nearby shopping destination for those not looking for the more pricey stuff in New Hope is the campus-like Peddler's Village.

Closer to Trenton, and the only restaurant that might lure me away from the great New Hope choices, is Paulie's in Ewing/West Trenton.

Vowelguy, I like your prections, but require a bit of clarification. Is UConn or Baylor the top 1-seed? I am assuming that Notre Dame is the 6th seed in your predictions. Regardless of whether Baylor or UConn is #1, they would try to keep Notre Dame and UConn from meeting before the FF if ND is top 8. Since ND is not facing Baylor but instead the 3-seed Duke, I assume ND is the 6-seed and Stanford is the 5th seed (thus UK is 4th). I think UL/MD are the 7th/8th seeds and it really doesn't matter who is higher because highly ranked UL wouldn't face UConn until FF if possible. How did I do?

Pedler's Village is a lot of fun, but I think the appeal is a limited age group - the bus trip group. There are also a few outlets there. New Hope likewise is going to appeal to some and not others, I would describe it as "artsy", and requires a fair amount of walking, IMHO

Incidently, Trenton is not all that far from Philadelphia for folks staying over the "off" day. Always something to do. We would take Route 1 South (into Pennsy toward Langhorne) to 95 south. Highways around Trenton are strangely numbered, FYI. Even some NJ natives have missed their turns on the highways.

Don't forget they don't seed that way any more. No S curve. So #1 over-all could be in a region with anyone from each of the other lines - geography rules, pretty much.

I think Baylor had the largest crowd in Denver and it is a bit farther from Waco than New Orleans is.

I think that the fans from Baylor are really going to flood New Orleans. We need to do some sinning that is not allowed in Waco. Plus, we know that after BG graduates that it may be a few years before we have another shot at a championship. Everyone will want to be there for BG's last couple of games.
You know, every time I've been to New Orleans, at some point during the trip, I invariably think, "You know, what this town really needs is an influx of Southern Baptists."

First Katrina, then the Southern Baptists.

JS's comment about West Trenton changing its name (to Ewing) reminds me that about a dozen years ago South Nyack, N.Y., became Sleepy Hollow, which I thought was very nifty.

The folks in Nyack were a bit resentful, though, whereupon the citizens of Sleepy Hollow very graciously said that they wouldn't object if Nyack wanted to change its name to North Sleepy Hollow.

Real neighborly.

For those who didn't know, JS writes and illustrates the Michelin Guide series. :D

The English should have been more prepared, with a town named Washington Crossing right across the river. :)

-Thanks! I'll admit, that never occured to me.
- I’d defer to Eric, but… Now I think I can finally appreciate why Cabrillo was enthralled discovering San Diego harbor,… must have been awestruck, realizing he was the first European to gaze upward at the Point Loma monument.

And the U.S. destiny was clear, given that a natural rock formation bore the likenesses of 4 future Presidents. :D

The incomparable monument at Mount Rushmore was sculpted by Gutson Borglum, creator of many great sculptures, most with a strong patriotic theme. He lived for many years in Stamford, Connecticut. His former home and studio is now the residence of Mort Walker, creator of Beetle Bailey and a good friend.

When the Merritt Parkway was under construction back in the '30's, Borglum could view one of the bridges being built from this studio and he was adamant that it be done in stone. As some of you may know, one of the magnificent attributes of the Merritt Parkway is that every single bridge and overpass is unique, none duplicated and each a work of original art.

They sure don't build roads like that anymore. Nor have we spotted any sculptors like Gutson Borglum lately.

In addition to Rushmore, he sculpted portions of St. John the Divine, the Sheridan Circle monument, the Wheeler Fountain, and lots more.

On the downside, Wikipedia claims that he was a member of the Klan.
