OT: Darryn Peterson

I really didn't like Dybantsa coming into the season because of his father pimping him out for NIL. That being said, the kid LOVES to ball, clearly. With the right mentor he'll shine. I take him #1

Pimping him out is a crazy way to frame him making sure he got the most value for his talent.

Kid got an equity deal from HS, seems like he was raised well, and is doing great at BYU this year.

Seems like the dad knew exactly what he was doing.

good listen, was surprising that neither Simmons/Frazier/Mann remembered that Ace Bailey was trying to manipulate the process to land with his preferred franchise with no star/face last year when Simmons brought it up with Peterson.

I like Bill but he’s got some bad lapses in memory sometimes and just says stuff. Also he never follows college hoops and admits it then acts like he knows stuff.

I do like him a lot but those are my nitpicks. He keeps saying he was all over Castle being the best player in his draft and I don’t remember that at all - I’m pretty sure he posited the question once but he now acts like he said he was def the best player over and over and that’s not true.

I definitely thought Castle was the best player in the draft, but I also thought it was a really weak draft. I thought he'd be good. Didn't think he'd be quite this good or at least not so quickly. This draft is really hard to project with so much talent.

I agree - and I was on board with him being better than the French guys, but obviously I didn't invest a ton of time scouting them. That's partially why I know Simmons didn't have that serious of a take, I was saying it at the time and no one else in the media was. There were so many questions about Castle and his O, and no one knew his D was like this in the national media.

Yea like a month ago after the NFL conference championship games when he said Seattle had never won a super bowl lol. I remember the predraft pod convos between him and Russillo and they were making cases for both Castle and DC to go #1 and we're leaning DC's way, definitely wasn't claiming that Castle was the clear best player.
