DeAndre's former AAU coach Dinos Trigonis wrote in a tweet early yesterday that DeAndre would enter the draft. He didn't say directly that DeAndre has declare but he says in a tweet that he will join those from his recruiting class that were ahead of him. Interesting, but obviously nothing is set in stone.

Deja vu?
Sigh. A person who joined a few weeks ago with 4 posts rehashing a topic that was discussed ad nauseum yesterday. Gotta love the BY.

After that tweet, a UConn beat writer reached out to him:

Ed Daigneault ‏@EdDaigneault 23h
Just spoke with DeAndre Daniels' AAU coach. Nothing decided re: NBA. DD's dad in town, he and DD meeting with Kevin Ollie next couple days.

Honestly, I just think it was a heat of the moment thing the AAU coach said trying to defend his former player.

Guys like former coaches usually have the inside scoop just saying

Even if its true its wrong to put that out on twitter its his decision, before he makes his decision its best that he gets his advice from a guy who knows the NBA like Kevin Ollie. DD will make his own decision.

My buddy who is well connected to the staff expects him back. So he is not the Gospel but I would say Ollie expects him back at this point. We'll see. Think he has some things to work on and would like to see him be a focal point and move way up draft lists next year (he would, in KO i trust) but can't begrudge him.

What's his take on Boats probability of returning? Even though DD is the more NBA ready (slightly) I was more concerned with boat going because even if it's Europe or NBDL money, it's more than he's making right now

boat would be a HUGE loss.. bigger than DD.. We don't have another primary ball handler on our team.

My wife said that Friday- we may or may not eat pork chops- she did go out and get pork chops- and our friend said to her they were particularly delious-so I think we might be leaning towards pork chops on Friday. I will keep you tuned in.

Good catch........got me!
Try to avoid "are they going to the draft?" threads, but the "Breaking News" title sucked me in.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice..............

he should enter, but not hire an agent

see where he stands, go to workouts and learn what he needs to improve

if he's top 20, he should go. But I doubt he's there after the championship game. If he had a big game there, his stock would have risen

BTW: same for Boat

ehh... I think he should go if he's assured that he will be drafted at all... the NBA has changed, they are more like baseball now, they are in the business of developing players. And the main goal for the players are to get to that 2nd contract. I think Boat has no chance of being drafted therefore he should come back. He needs to have a monster year like shabazz had to put him on the map.

He can't do that anymore. The timeline has been "adjusted" (some would say manipulated.). Today is the last day for those who have already declared to return to school without loss of eligibility. Daniels still has 12 days to declare if he so chooses, but he cannot workout for GM's prior to the 27th. The only "concrete" info Daniels is exposed to is whatever GMs tell his college coach. Daniels is not even allowed to talk to them directly.

There is a draft advisory board that consists of people "in the know", which is likely scouts and people who talk to GMs. But you are right that he cannot participate in workouts.

Whatever he does, I'll be happy for him. He helped win a National Championship. He'll forever have a great legacy because of that.

I love Boat, but he's nowhere near the PG Napier is, and he's shorter. I expect Daniels to head for the NBA. I'm rooting for him to catch on like Lamb did. I expect Boat to be back. Anyone chirping into his ear to jump needs his/her head examined...

I would like DD to stay and think he would benefit from another year, but I won't hold it against him if he does go. As far as next year is concerned, I love the Boat/Samuel combo (although I'll miss Shabazz). IMO Samuel is another superstar in the making. I can see him doing great things at UCONN.

I agree that he would benefit greatly from another year but after being a key cog in another title, we should all wish him the best if he leaves. I don't know that Samuel has the offensive skills to be a "superstar" but as a 4 year glue guy he will continue to bring great value to the team. He and Brimah can continue to bring great defense and hustle, Hamilton, Purvis and others will provide plenty of scoring.
