Daniels dunk attempt

he missed the dunk by about an inch or two, having someone slow you down or hit you mid air is going to throw you off...i dont mind it at all, he attacked the rim hard after not playing all too well the past few games... he didnt get hurt so we shouldnt be making a big deal about this
True. If he got hurt that would have been devastating. Good thing he got right back up it was a hard lick.

Did you rewatch just ow looking for the foul? Or were you going off memory?

It was obvious. Look at it from the first shot (i.e. camera view, side of the court). He gets clipped hard and then drops.

You can't finish when you're fouled hard.

Not buying your argument. Just watched the video over and over. I'm not convinced he got hit, and even if he did, it was with very little force. The Rutgers player was on his heels from backtracking to guard TSam, then stepped up weakly to challenge Daniels before realizing that it was futile and pulled back. The reason he didn't make the dunk is he doesn't have ups, not that he got fouled. It looks even worse since he spread his legs, stuck out his tongue and did full MJ Jumpman. (Never go full Jumpman) Oh well.

You guys are crazy. It doesn't even look that bad in slow mo.

EDIT: I was looking at the Louisville one. Nevermind.

He wasn't rejected by the underside of the rim. From the above angle, it appears the ball slips out of his hand a bit. He threw it into the back of the cylinder (where it attaches to the backboard).

And that he was undercut slightly. Changed his trajectory.

This thing where we take one bad play and dissect it to death and pronounce a player worthy or unworthy based on three seconds of game action? I don't get it.
this x100. There's some thread about how Nolan's such a funny guy, a poster barges in and claims his air ball was the funniest thing he's ever done. Smh

.-.
I love how we're breaking it down like it's the zapruder film.

Look at it this way- his dunk attempt against Louisville was a foot too far, his dunk attempt against Rutgers was a foot short...his next one should be juuuuuust right.

Someone needs to rewind the Daniels dunk attempt.

A Rutgers player jammed his chest while he was up in the air. I saw him lose his height after the hand jammed him.
I know you mean well, and are defending him, but still it was an embarrassing ass play.

Truth is DD isn't very athletic. He has elite skills but not elite athletic ability.

The play was painful to watch, and it was worse because he had been virtually invisible up to that point of the game. I like the way he rallied to make a couple of nice plays after the fact. A lot of kids would have dissolved after that play. He kept his head in the game.

More importantly anyone want to take bets its on ESPN's 'not so top 10' tomorrow?

It's absolutely No 1. Didn't someone already state that ESPN already showed it saying they couldn't wait until tomorrow?

It's also a little weird, albeit endearing, how you're campaigning to downplay how embarrassing this play was. You posted six times in DeAndre's defense how it was a foul (then of course, resorted to name calling). If only post count was an indicator of reason. Mark Sanchez could have used you during the Butt Fumble incident.

You're the only guy arguing your point. Must be lonely.

Nope, not the only. Others saw the foul when he was in mid-air. I have company. And they have good eyesight.

For the record, I think he got fouled too. The defender clearly hit him. Did it cause him to miss the dunk, maybe.

Name-calling? Uh... no. Where? The really weird thing is all your effort to bag on Daniels.

Yikes, c'mon. He might have gotten brushed by the dude in the lane but it wasn't a "hard foul" and he didn't "lose a foot" off of his jump. That's ridiculous.

I'm not surprised you're taking this position, you've got a track record, but no one looking at that play would think that was a hard foul. DeAndre jumped from too far out and blew the dunk. I'm glad he's okay, but that's really all there is to it.

Alright boys, you've had your fun.
Now go and watch the Phil Nolan GIF so you can get back to being serious.

Where is there a video of this dunk attempt? I need to send it to my cousin.

You can watch it in TCF's game highlight thread. It's around the 7:35 mark.

I've watched it about 10x and it's very clear Daniels gets hit in the upper left arm but it doesn't seem very hard or to really appear to throw him off. He simply jumps from way too far.

I'm glad he didn't get hurt. I'm also glad he doesn't seem to be favoring his ankle anymore. He didn't put up big stats, but he appeared to be moving like he did before his high ankle sprain.

This is my last post on the subject, because your style of arguing is irritating, but you might want to check the second post in this thread if you think I'm trying to 'bag on Daniels'. Judging from his twitter post, he was able to shrug it off. Maybe you should too.

Not as embarrassing as Welsh trying to convince us that Rutgers didn't need to foul down 5 with 15 seconds left.

That's the Cincy one, correct? I'm looking for the one from last night.

7:34 mark.

If you look at it closely, it does look like the rim fouled him. He probably should have taken one dribble.
He got hit a little across the chest, but it doesn't look like it should be enough to have caused the miss to me. Oh well. Sort of like Boatright's blocked dunk against Memphis, I think this is getting too much attention. I mean, if it were serious, he wouldn't be sticking his tongue and laissez faire about it once the ball went out of bounds.

Distant second to his miss against Louisville.
Gotta disagree. I don't think we see a dunk miss this bad for years. This is like the Marc Sanchez fumble of dunk fails; everything goes so perfectly wrong, it's almost like a work of comedic art.

Not a foul on that dunk. He took off a step too early and paid the price. Just that simple.
