Dan Hurley press conference

I don't think he knows how to address or refer to Herbst yet. Seems to want to say something else and then settles on "the president."
Or he blanked. Always smart to keep a a cheat sheet available.

Wow. If what they sold him turns out to be true, then they're basically admitting they're relying on nickel and dime stuff to use as cause to walk away from the Ollie buyout paying zero.

... because those are the terms of the contract? It would be malfeasance not to do it.

(FWIW, this things ends in a negotiated settlement.)

Honestly I can care less at this point. My only worry about Ollie’s buy-out was the ability to not have enough funds for a new coach. Now that is thankfully behind us it doesn’t really matter to me what he gets. We have Hurley, Geno and Edsall so I’m good.

Enough already. Breaking the rules, is breaking the rules, especially in a contract that was written with "zero tolerance" in mind. Just because the violations will not be the death of the UConn program does not mean they aren't significant enough to fire the guy who was charged with preventing exactly that.

I like it. I don't mean any disrespect towards Kevin Ollie, but I watched that day as well and I thought his presser was full of cliches and hokey nonsense. Now, I didn't think he was being insincere, but Dan Hurley is as genuine as it gets. Ollie's stuff seemed rehearsed.

Granted, none of that really matters when it comes to coaching basketball, but I get a better feeling form Hurley than I did from Ollie.

Exactly right, to quibble the expression is 'I could NOT care less' ;)
It doesn't matter now. We = UConn moved on. Go Huskies.

I was by no means stating we shouldn't do it, and almost all legal disputes do end up settling out of court.

Enough already.
Enough already from both sides. It's the school's and Ollie's problem now, not ours. As long as it didn't hinder our ability to move on with a new coach, I'm not worried. I don't think any one of us knows enough to know how this is going to play out, but I'd be willing to bet that people like you who think he won't get paid are dead wrong, as are the people who think he's going to be paid every penny. My guess is that he'll get a good deal more than half of what he is owed, because things aren't nearly as black and white as you believe they are.

Diaco and Ollie may have said some of the same things but this guy has already been a coach of a top 25 team and has already won NCAA tournament games. So his words might carry some more cache? Not to mention the fact he likes pulling ideas from great basketball minds (like his dad and Calhoun and I"m sure Geno). He doesn't seem like he's just going to cut off Calhoun like it was rumored KO did.

Hurley said the things I thought he'd say, and which needed to be said. I had pieced together a view of him from old quotes and so on, that suggested that he was very fond of UConn and Calhoun, and would be proud to lead this program and make this a 20 year job. I think that's what made him the perfect fit for this job.

I think some of what he said needs to sink home with the players. We need to play UConn basketball, full of confidence but not cocky. We have to believe that UConn basketball is on another level before we can truly make it so. Dan believes.
