How Dan Hurley and UConn men's basketball approached summer of practices

I'm starting to now think that Hurley not winning the 3rd Championship last year affected him a more than revealed. I mean he did sacrifice a lot to try and achieve his goal.

Just saying after reading that article its clear he is on a mission to settle for nothing less than Championships. I really think the other teams don't realize the bad taste in Hurley's mouth right now after last season's ending. Its like he is looking to destroy and dominate all opposition not just winning games.

Hearst Media killing it the last week. I think that's now 8 articles since last Friday. The Courant has had 2 from last Friday's practice.

Last year's team was exciting but ultimately flawed. The injuries to Hass and Liam also limited their ceiling.
The fatal flaw was the defense - it’s not easy adapting to having no Clingan with a group of slow footed defenders.

Dan has about faced from his chronic public service announcement last summer. It feels like he’s going stealth mode this year, living and learning.

I’d say 3 in 4 years would still be quite the coup. A Threepeat would have been exciting but he still has the chance to pull off some amazing legacy building accomplishments if he can grab another one in the next season or two. 3/4 or 3/5 isn’t something we’ve seen in a long time and would separate from the Florida and Duke back to backs. He can also shut up the many critics who love thinking Clingan was the only reason we won.

I am really stoked for this year's Husky MBB team! It looks like Coach Dan has filled in the needs pretty well.

That being said I think he had a lot of over extended loyalty by insisting that SJ be the starting center, when it appeared at times to not be working very well. I hope that he is more discerning this year and is more agreeable to making changes as on court needs demand.

This is exactly what I was hoping I'd hear about in "summer camp". This is how rock fights are prepared for. Much more real Husky basketball. Including in your face defense and rebounding. Hope to see a lot of relentless pressure on opponents. Training and depth.

Who is the woman who is narrating this? She sounds like she went to the Syracuse school of broadcasting (they all sound the same) and she's covering a major world event.

Hey does anyone know if there are more summer practice videos floating around? I only recall one dropped earlier in July and I could use more Husky!

Bryant is in a list of "Power Houses"?

We still need Stewart and Ross become legit players or this whole thing is overrated. They need to step up.
I agree about Stewart, but not necessarily about Ross. Don't get me wrong, I would love for him to prove everyone wrong and take a giant leap, but I not counting on him having a significant impact on whether we are really good or not.

I personally think Jayden Ross is #11 on the team below the 10 man cut line with his brother, Alex Millender and Souleymane Diaby.

There's a lot of talk of Stewart being a more ideal 4 then 3, but we have AK and Koroma so Stewart at the 4 will be few and far between unless break glass.

Instead he has shown time and time again to be better in games than Ross and not by a little.

The wing position on this team is dense with talent with Stewart, Furphy (can also be a 2), Mullins (also is mainly a 2 but can be a 3), and finally 2 Ross's. IDK know if Jayden can get so much better to leapfrog 4 dudes, but I do think Stewart becomes a much better player this year. Maybe not Soloesque rise but improvement for sure.

That was an AI generated Youtube cobbled together from other reports..maybe a good listen but clearly AI regurgitating others.

Good to see one of our guards finishing strong at the rim (Silas).
That was a strong finish by Silas.
Being the same size as Newton, I hope he can master drawing the foul like Newton did and up his FT attempts this year.

Tristen averaged 5.2 FTA per game his 5th year. Silas averaged 4.8 last season. I'd say there's a very good shot he can take drawing fouls to a new level--maybe even better than TN.

I would say it is very important, but if Reed Jr becomes a beast auto double double, Mullins plays like I think he will. Demary Jr is TN 2.0, Alex just becomes Alex again with a bit more of an interior game with the new bulk, Solo continues to improve like I expect he will and Reibe and Furphy play better than freshman which I think they will and Smith be a tempo quicker as expected……I really think even if we don’t see the jumps we want from these loyal Huskies we will still be really good.

I appreciate the commitment from them but I am more excited to see how good Demary Jr is, Reed Jr owning the block, Alex hitting dagger threes and I will keep going back to Mullins…..I think he is going to be very good this year. And of course Solo becoming a 1st team all BE player.

We are better in every area we needed to get better in. Offensively I think we will be a juggernaut can we play top 20-30 defense for the whole year is the big question.

It's the content/message that I was interested in. It is in line with Torres recent post about Furphy and Reibe adding immense depth with some diverse talents to the 2025 Huskies.

Last year's team was exciting but ultimately flawed. The injuries to Hass and Liam also limited their ceiling.

The Liam injury happened at just the wrong time. This not only stunted Liam's development, it also had a lot of secondary effects. Injuries always play a role. We will never know.

Think Reed is in for a monster year. Mullins looks to be about instant offense as possible. Just hoping he can pick things up defensively as soon as possible (which shouldn’t be a worry with this staff).

Hope Silas can get adjusted to being a play creator more here than he was asked to at Georgia. He has a lot of mouths to feed. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s an adjustment period for him figuring out how to get guys around him involved and finding his own. Smith is an ideal backup PG for two guard lineups with him to help with this in the meantime.

Continuing to root for Ross and Stew. Stew obviously brings more offensively, holding out hope Ross can step up as a defensive stopper and play finisher for us to get big minutes in that role during the season.

We really need another big wing to step up there between him and Stew to help give us that size advantage.

Solo is in for a big year regardless.
