Dan Hurley on Allen Fieldhouse chants: "We’re all gladiators.”

Dan hasn't lost his fire. But I do think he's really trying hard to get from the bench to the locker room in hostile environments- at the half and after games- with less drama. Taking the high road.

Very few-if any-tougher arenas than playing at Phog. Appreciated how he exited the court with a big W after taking care of business. It's how blue blood programs do things.

Being sort of a p….. myself, I know how hard it must be for him to hold back and let it bounce off. On the other hand, I loved hearing the chant and knowing it was all just in fun and part of the college atmosphere. I actually thought the crowd were more subdued than the last time we played there even when they had us on the ropes in the first half. I expected far worse from them and so proud of our young guys Reibe and Mullins for holding up so well in that environment.

That is a great quote. Personally I think the chat is classless, regardless of the target. Any AD who allows it to continue is equally as classless.
I feel differently. The students are trying to create a hostile atmosphere and get under the opponents skin. I see it as them just having fun being kids. Classless are the drunks in the stands with all that comes with that. I remember Pitt fans chanting, what was it “doughboy” ? to Kalid, but then who was it standing on the scorers table with the last laugh? All good fun in the heat of battle.

There were hundreds of young children in the stands and their fans wanna set the example that it's OK ? No.

It's a classless, creatively void chant. If one person stood up and started screaming F U Hurley, he'd have been tossed out of the building. But if everyone does it, it's all in good fun? Nope.

It's one of the things that makes college basketball great and so much more fun than the NBA.

Self wasn't a fan of it.

While Hurley was unbothered by the explicit chants, Kansas coach Bill Self used his postgame media availability to express his displeasure with members of the Jayhawk fanbase. “I said verbally to knock it off," Self said about the chants. "You don’t do that.”

He's a multi-national title winning coach who runs a clean program. If his worst offense is btchng at the refs too much, then I'll take that coach any day of the week.

Fans will be fans. Good on him that he didn't engage with them much like with Creighton. He can be fiery and still keep it under control.

The UConn students absolutely have done this. We used to dog Cronin and Buzz Williams when I was at school. Buzz was by far the easiest to get under his skin.

For most it wasn’t personal. Just students blowing steam and having a fun night out. It happens everywhere. Is it right to say that bad word? No. Was it disrespectful and classless? Yes. Do I hate it? No. The student section chants all kinds of things and I love their enthusiasm even when misguided and a bit over the top. Can’t beat the college atmosphere, and although the coaches and administration obviously won’t condone it, I also believe they will tolerate it.

The UConn students did this 2 weeks ago for the Arizona game. They spent the entire 2 hours yelling at Bronny with little success

Do we have a question talker? Yes.
