Syracuse certainly botched theirs.I wonder how often these actually pan out.
Me too. Unless it’s imminent, or a long time assistant gets promoted it usually goes badly.I wonder how often these actually pan out.

But was "Red" 56-15 anywhere as a Head Coach?Syracuse certainly botched theirs.
Portal era should make this easier today. Negates the negative recruiting you might see with a lame duckI wonder how often these actually pan out.
Yeah, but that hand had quite a bit of dried snot on it.Syracuse has had the most beautiful hand off. Better than any hand off any has ever seen.
Mike Hopkins was the coach in waiting at Syracuse. But was "Red" 56-15 anywhere as a Head Coach?

we got a national championship out of Ollie, so I'd say that worked out. Syracuse had a transition plan in place, but Boeheim decided to stay longer and the plan blew up.This seems like a better thought out transition than Syracuse (or us with Ollie). It isn't the lifetime assistant being promoted. It's a guy that already had a couple successful years at a lower level (1st NCAA tournament appearance for the school). But while I'm sure Creighton is nice, it can't compete with the High Point dorms that I see on social media.

Hopefully the HC isn't spending much time in the dorms.....that's reserved for the FL coach! This seems like a better thought out transition than Syracuse (or us with Ollie). You just answered your own question. Not sure why a school bothers with a coach in waiting in the transfer portal era unless they think this Huss guy is definitely their choice and they want to lock him in.
Seems like a really good hire. Played at Creighton, was an assistant coach for 6 years at Creighton, and head coach at High Point for 2 years going 56-15. High Point hadn't had a winning record in 5 years and he won 2 Big South regular season and 1 Big South tournament championship.
A little surprised McDermott wants to be done in the next couple of seasons according to Goodman’s post, when he’ll be 61 or 62. He has a good thing going there and good NIL backing. But good for him if he wants to walk away while relatively young and healthy, unlike Slick Rick.
Don't think we need to be, they're targeting a significantly higher tier of coachesAre we worried about this High Point opening?
