Creighton Post Game

I will say one thing, I am a bit disappointed not to have a good Creighton team because a good Creighton team with their coach always does a great job of exploiting and showing UConn it's weaknesses. Hurley then has done a great job of adjusting and covering those weaknesses. I'm not saying I want a loss, but there wasn't a ton to learn from for the coaching staff in terms of adjustments it can make.

We have been tested by very good non conference teams but the St. John’s one will be interesting.

Ball missed first shot of the game, but he is important to our offense because he can get around screens and drive into the paint for pull ups. No one else really does that. Unfortunately his 2-pt shooting percentage has been dropping, but his 3pt percentage is on the rise.

So are you saying we learned nothing from all the close games we've had in the Big East so far? I would say we learned a lot from those games which is why we had the performance we did tonight. We don't need Creighton to be good for us to see what our weaknesses are we have the best coaching staff in the country to do that and I trust them.

I'm a Donny Marshal fan but does he need to mention every game how Mullins is only staying one year? I do like though when he points out that Mullins still has things to work on in his game and playing for coach Hurley is a good place for him to improve his game. Recruits know this already but it doesn't hurt for people to keep repeating that.

Blowouts are fun but against a bad team lets pump the breaks a bit. Lets hope this is a sign of this team starting to run on all cylinders and this performance because more the norm. Reed needs to clean up the poor fouls and i have a couple other nitpicks but this team is well on its way to having a fun run through the BE Tourney and a #1 seed in the Tourney. As legit a chance at the title as anyone no doubt.

UConn win close game - They suck. Season is in jeopardy.

UConn win blow out- pump the breaks. That other team sucked.

Does anyone know what happened on that second half play where Smith bear hugged the ball handler and UConn ended up with the ball? Was it an offensive foul?

I think Dan showed them the poll I put up a few days ago 🤣. Nobody thought we could go to Omaha and just manhandle Creighton, yet we did. I’m still concerned that Tarris just isn’t where we need him to be to go far. However, this is a huge step in us clicking and finding that next gear at the right time of year. Very happy with this performance. It’s just what we needed to start building that postseason confidence.

called a foul on Creighton, not sure what the refs were looking at, it was clearly a foul on Smith

Yes. Very much doubt we will play down at all for that game at MSG. Will probably be the most telling game for us since the OOC games. Those showed how good we can be. The SJU game should show us how good we really are right now.

Maybe we had it all figured out in advance and didn't need any lessons......

Only thing I could think was, "Save some threes and points for the St. John's game!"

One of the best thought I've had in the past few weeks with this team. So glad they laid the smackdown on a team they've been 3-9 against lately.

I think they called a foul before the bear hug because the Creighton player was aggressively pushing him with two hands. I think they viewed that as a little too much physicality

Most of the crowd started heading for the exits with seven minutes left after a 3-pointer from Jayden Ross pushed the Huskies’ lead to 27 points.

15 2nd half points?? For who?
The app I was looking at might not have been refreshed. Creighton scored 28 points in the second half, and 58 total.

Our offense and defense looked much better tonight, though I was surprised at how poorly Creighton played. They've been a tough opponent the past few years, but this season, they look pretty flawed.

Finally had a good rebounding game. Great shooting and Demary looking really solid.

I wish they would run more plays for Reibe when he is in. He shoots a pretty high percentage.

1. Was watching it delayed by about 90 minutes
2. Is this the "A" game? IDK. Helluva performance by UConn amd it was obvious this Creighton team isn't as skilled as previous Creighton teams.
3. That being said, it was nice to relax with 8-10 left on the game.
4. I have no idea how Mullins ended up 6-13. Seemed like he made every shot

Your reading comprehension failed you here.

I said historically Coach Mac has been the best at exploiting major weaknesses and forcing Hurley to adjust and add to the game plan.

No, no coach this year has really done that yet. The close games were more due to stuff that every team does in BE play to mess with Hurleys offense (grabbing/holding off ball), switching, etc. that’s nothing new.

Creighton has game planned and beaten UConn a lot bc they had historically done things differently on offense and defense.

There is a huge difference between the two. One goes away OOC, the other needs adjustments by the coaching staff.

I agree Hurley and company are the best staff in the country but one can’t raise their game without other coaches pushing them.

How about that late floor-level visual of the Creighton big man on his ass under the hoop with his arms out waiting for an assist from his teammates? But they had all run away so it up to some guy with a rag in his hand to help him up. Creighton Basketball!
