Creighton Post Game Thread

March 8, 2014.
Louisville 81 UConn 48.
Lost the last regular season game.

March 15, 2014
Louisville 71 UConn 61.
Lost the AAC tournament game.

April 7,2014
UConn 60 Kentucky 54
National Champions

Trying to provide some perspective here because I remember reading these same kind of quotes after the losses in 2014.
I can say that team was full of assassins though. Even kromah was cold blooded in that.

I hope Hurley blames himself some for this ugly loss. Hurley & staff need to figure this out quick, the writing has been on the wall for awhile that something is wrong on both ends.
Started Ross the second half and sat SB. Team responded, went up 7 in the first 4 minutes of the half. Hurley puts SB back in for Ross and the game falls apart almost immediately.

True. This is actually a more comfortable place for the BY too. this forum is the most cohesive after we blow it. Ahhhhh, New Mexico st.
We really felt like a family after that one
Yeah the boneyard hates nothing more than an 18 game win streak. Too many close ones!

Well, yea. He is human. But that is how you beat teams. Take out the teams most important piece, and hope no one else can make up for that. It worked tonight.

Look, I love Karaban and he's among the handful of most important recruits in the program's history so I'm not going to get in a back and forth dumping on him but if you think Creighton made a concerted effort to "take him out" and that's why he was bad tonight . . . you're certainly entitled to that opinion.

.-.
This team is just not very good right now. Teams have figured out our defense. We foul non stop. AK is so easy to shut down.

Mullins shot good but they went on their run when Mullins was trying to take over and missed 4 straight. They scored everytime. We stopped running Demery and Reed then when we did it was too late and we missed everything.

I see a few more loses this season. At least 2 maybe 3. Probably a 3 seed.
I don’t see a win for the rest of the year

.-.
The Silas-Solo-Braylon-AK-TR starting lineup.

It's too duplicative and you end up with three guys waiting around for Silas to get them the ball for a three. And when you have a very high volume shooter like Solo who really does not add much if he's not scoring, the lineup does not work that well.

I've wanted them to break that lineup up with Reed or Stewart. You add a bigger body on defense and for rebounding and he's not going to sit and wait on his shot. E.g. We looked our best in the second half when we started with Reed in for Solo. Once Solo came back, he immediately front rimmed a long three and the Creighton run began.
I think you mean Ross for Solo.

I want to see more Ross. He gives us more defense than any of our other players. He still gets beat especially inside at times due to be skiiny but overall had a good game and should have been in there more than Ball for sure during the 2nd half.
Nobody is perfect defensively. Feel like this board just notices it even more when Ross gets beat. But he gets plenty of stops.

Like I’ve said at the beginning of the season, he’s the athletic 3 and D wing that was needed in the lineup. Now that he’s actually playing aggressively on offense he may be able to be somewhat of a playmaker to go with it. Finally.

Honestly should’ve been at this point in his development last year but we’ll take it.

It was the lineup you asked for in Silas Mullins Ross AK Reed

Like we’ve been saying all along, it just makes sense role wise for these group of guys to play together. Whether the two is Mullins or Solo.
How does ball handle next year if he takes a nonstarter role for the rest of this year? His numbers support a change. Though I think he’s up to the low 30s now from 3.

The same problem popped up tonight that have been there all year. Team is on the verge of blowing the other team out and then jacks up quick shots resulting in long boards and easy run outs for the other team letting the other team right back in the game.

Then you have guys driving to the rim at will the last couple of games. No kind of defense gave up 90 pts tonight that’s ridiculous.

Silas as good as he is needed to stop pussyfooting and get more aggressive. He has shown the ability to takeover and carry the team. I get he’s the new guy and this is supposed to be AKs team but when the team is struggling that goes out of the window.

Braylon and Solo really need to stop gunning they both killed momentum multiple times during the game.

Could we also please get Reed more involved he could not be stopped by creighton all night but we went away from him. And then when we went back he was out of the flow.

I'm sure Karaban has probably played a worse game in his career but I'm having a tough time coming up with one.
4 rebounds and 2 points on 1-6 shooting while getting torched on defense all night in 25 mins ….good luck finding one

I also believe this may be a good loss, but like everyone is saying, this play has been a trend and we don’t have that one alpha that is a take over scorer, Silas is too selective when he wants to take over and Braylon is still developing his killer instinct. Seeding and placing and luck will be important to have any chance at a final four. Close but probably an elite eight team at best.

We aren’t the hunters anymore. We are the hunted. Wounded prey hiding for safety from the big bad wolves like Creighton and St. Johns. This team will be lucky to make the sweet 16. Our shot selection is putrid. Solo and Karaban just chuck shots and pray they go in. The only way we do anything in the tourney is if Mullins and Demary carry us on their backs. We don’t deserve to be anywhere close to the top 10. We just kissed any chance of a #1 seed, good bye.
Good God man, Creighton is not, nor ever will be, a wolf. Get a grip on yourself Sir.

There is no such things as a good loss

For a down year a lot of BE teams have been playing UConn close.

Demry needs to drive more and actually take shots or get fouled. A lot of time he drives he passes in situations that he likely can get a shot off.

Solo needs to cool it with the threes. He’s to streaky to launch them whenever.

To me it seems if Reed has regressed. Too much foul trouble and alot of times he looses the ball or cant score in situations where he should be.
Balls best shot us from the elbow. It’s insanely accurate and sets his whole game up. It should almost be the first play out if the gates or yo get out offense going.
